Well invalidname, do you already own a PS Vita, or will an additional purchase be necessary?

That soon?

Unless they're overnighting stuff, it sound like it'll be available retail before us kickstarter backers even get our physical rewards... Mad

I've been playing the Windows version (via Parallels for Mac and on a crappy $100 Windows tablet) for the last year and a half. In fact, I don't have a Vita, but I got a Vita code anyways from throwing so much money at this Kickstarter. Not sure who I'm going to give that to yet.

I've been saying over on the ML discord that this is a big problem. Most people there seem to think that backer codes will go out before the retail release, possibly as part of an end-of-the-month update once BackerKit closes. Otherwise, it'll be a long summer for Vita backers, as physicals aren't expected until August (we're apparently waiting on printing of the big-ass book of lore, the Muv-Luv Codex).

It's kind of terrible that Vita backers didn't get the first ML game back in 2016 shortly after the PC version came out, but the developers apparently focused on the "director's cut" (ie, porn patch) and then Alternative for PC, at the expense of the Vita. And then there was a three month delay this year as ixtl took the license back from Degica (who then pulled the PC version from Steam), and ixtl had to wrangle a re-release through Sekai Project. Now, ironically, the wait for the Vita release has outlasted the Vita itself.

I wish "unofficial" patches could be possible to get a fully uncensored version of this.

It is a shame.

Update from the Kickstarter: they are sending out Vita codes to backers before the retail release: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/muvluv/muv-luv-a-pretty-sweet-visual-novel-series/comments?cursor=20566715#comment-20566714

But they're not going to overnight a bunch of Vita cartridges to thousands of backers all over the world, because money.

As a backer, I wonder what ever happened to all that surplus money after they exceeded the $900,000 goal?

IIUC, much of it went into paying translators to work for two years doing a ground-up re-translation of the games' text, rather than just paying a fee to use the original fan translation, which was the original plan. Plus, they added a bunch of crazy physical rewards as the KS went on: a figma, a printed copy of the lore book, etc., and those can't have been cheap.

Yeah, frankly the promise of a Vita key doesn't make this better. I have a steam key already, I'm not that desperate just to play the game. Maybe it's petty but it's just the principle of it.

I'm sure it's because they want to print all the copies in one batch and don't want extra inventory to be sitting around for too long, and I understand that it's probably really tough to get all our physical rewards coordinated, and they're crazy expensive to ship... but generally the appeal of being a kickstarter backer is the exclusivity and being the "first" to get the finished product. And with as many delays as there have been, you'd think they'd have plenty of time to figure that stuff out.

Too bad this can't be on steam. Their hammering on anything that remotely looks like a mature audience sort of thing.

It is on Steam... the first one has been for a couple years now.
