Not following this series, so how popular is it, seeing as it is by Trigger? Merchandise sales are heavily tied to the popularity of any particular show, so if prospects aren't good, no need to put in a pre-order as it'll most likely still be on sale on the release day, even if it's a Kotobukiya figure.

If I still liked the show show, I would prefer a figure of Miku or Ichigo.

That is a very nice looking anime figure. Also in terms of the show spoiler[I think this an indication that Zero Two will most likely survive since the timing wouldn't make sense if they were going to have her die in the middle of the pre-order time.]

It's kinda hard to tell right now because viewer reception has been all over the place, especially with the last few episodes. The official FB page has over 121,000 followers, for example, and the Newtype July rankings had the main two leads at the very top of the chart, with another 3 characters in the top ten male and female rankings. Asuna, Kirito, Saber, Archer, and even Leouch got outranked by the main couple.

There's also been a number of ANN articles regarding the show outside of the episode reviews, so clearly its being talked about quite a bit. It's been pretty controversial, so hard to tell if the attention will last.

Regardless of how popular the show is, there's already a ton of doujin work for the character, so I'd say go ahead and order it now.

Agree with you too, pre order now. Forget about western reception, as BodaciousSpacePirate said, if there are a ton of doujin out there, it is going to go fast.
