Yay! Another show I had on my wish list. I enjoyed Monochrome Factor. It is a little different from the manga though.

This is as obscure as hell to me...

Meanwhile, when are they ever going to release the original Gunbuster OVA series or Giant Robot (1990s OVA series) on Blu ray in the States?
Those two shows are long overdue for HD release here!
They can do releases of the original Gundam, Casshan, Gatchaman, and even Patlabor (which has next to no fanbase) in the States, but they're NEXT doing an $800 limited release of the Legend of the Galactic Heroes which you know 98% of the fanbase can't afford and doesn't want! Heck, even most of the older guys like me who COULD save up on 3-4 months and NOT buy any new releases won't pay $800 for LoGH!
(It's also hard SF/obscure space opera to me... I was aware of it in the 1990s but I'm not gonna buy something for $800 sight-unseen that I really don't know anything much about. I'm far more likely to buy the original Yatterman or Gatchaman II or Gatchaman F before I'd get Legend of the Galactic Heroes.)

I don't get it...
Sentai/Section23 made more sense to me when they were ADV Films but it's a different retail world now than it was 12-15 years ago...

People are still complaining about this, and I was under the impression that LOGH had tons of money.

Weird choice. Was it some kind of package deal? I tried to watch this as it aired, but the fansub groups were not exactly reliable. I did end up watching the whole thing a couple years ago; it's decent, but Shirogane might be a little creepier than he ought to be.

Gunbuster's never gonna happen unless they pay for the Chariots of Fire cover tune that was removed from the BVUSA DVD. This is also the reason why it never got licensed in France & Australia despite Dybex & Siren Visual trying to do so.

If you're serious then you might want to wait a while. Japan just announced an HD Blu-ray Box for Gatchaman II coming in September and Sentai's DVDs actually look bad due to being from very old R2 DVD sources (which I believe were composite and/or interlaced).
