It's not like anything could have even challenged MHA in the ranking.

Also, scores this season are really high uh?

Top ten overall rankings here are still pretty spot-on imo, though I still think Gegege is being heavily underrated/appreciated. I’m surprised Hinamatsuri has actually overtaken Megalo Box in the overall ratings, I wonder if the latest excellent episode and next week’s finale will help boost it to first place again. Either way, both are fully deserving of being considered the best imo. Lupin too, the top three shows are all number 1 of the season in my book, but Lupin’s a two-cour so the former two deserve singling out imo. It does bum me out how the standalone one-off adventure episodes of Lupin Part 5 always make the show take a big dip in the weekly episode rankings. Like, just cause it isn’t part of a serialized narrative that doesn’t mean it’s not as good. But the arcs this season *have* been pretty amazing, so I can kinda understand why some aren’t as engaged by the episodic stuff.

It has some excellent episodes, but it has also had some episodes where it's made me think "Yeah...this is definitely a kid's show". It has consistently looked pretty good though.

I'm not really surprised, considering Hina has beaten Megalobox every week since episode 6 in the weeklies, and has taken the top spot in the weeklies more times than any other series this season (4 to MHA and Steins;Gate's 2 and Megalobox, Lupin, and Franxx's 1). We'll have to see what Hina's finale is rated, but I don't think the margin will be large enough to switch things back, given Hina has averaged between 4.6 and 4.8 every episode since 5 (and only 1 and 4 scored less than 4.6 at 4.4 and 4.5 respectively). But I would still say that Megalobox is definitely a contender for the top show this season, even if it isn't my first choice.

I don’t think it being a kids show is really a bad thing. It still has better writing than most “adult” shows, lol. There are lots of great children’s anime out there’s but unfortunately a lot of older western fans don’t give them the time amid daub and are very dismissive of them. Hence why they’re rarely listed or rated here.

I didn’t realize hina had been so consistently highly rated. That’s nice to know since I remember the actual reviewer making some (imo) pretty trivial complaints about it in the first half.

Certainly. I don’t watch it, but I’ve heard good things about Precure, and Kitaro is definitely an exhibit in not taking kid’s shows lightly. However, I’d say that the problem lies not with the quality of the writing but with the simplicity of the writing of some episodes. We go from episodes looking at how the decay of rural Japanese communities affects families and critiquing the country’s culture of overwork and the bosses who exploit and break their employees to...stalker no stalking and don’t screw around near graves. I think it’s that contrast which leaves some episodes feeling unfulfilling by comparison for even young adult fans.
