interesting to see Kimi no na wa. on the DVD list but not the blu-ray list. Japan isn't respecting the movie as much was I hoped. That movie deserves nothing less than blu-ray quality! People are crazy

Since the movie debuted on Blu-ray Disc and DVD almost a year ago in July 2017, the 2017 charts give a better indication of how well the movie did on both formats: animenewsnetwork.com/news/2017-12-23/top-selling-animation-blu-ray-discs-in-japan-2017/.125688 animenewsnetwork.com/news/2017-12-23/top-selling-animation-dvds-in-japan-2017/.125691 animenewsnetwork.com/news/2017-12-23/top-selling-animation-in-japan-on-blu-ray-disc-dvd-by-series-2017/.125681 |

Also, Girls und Panzer is really rocking it. I'm a bit surprised something so specialized manages to beat out the over dominating Love Live. I got the PS4 game and it's super funny with crazy drifting parts that's hilarious.
I just hope they release these movies on Steam sometime. I picked up a lot of anime there (on sale though) recently. Though since I've already seen it on Crunchyroll it's more of a blank support statement than anything. Quick note: Why are people buying DVD still though? Even PS3s could run blue ray, and I'm sure you could get those used for a very small penny (not to mention PCs or a blue ray player in general). I'm asking since there seem to be sooo many of them. |

I love both Love Live and Girls und Panzer and I do not mind seeing either one topping the other. GuP has always been rocking it for the past few years. I doubt the movies will come to Steam but I am hoping that the game comes to that platform someday. |

Look at the DVD list. A lot of the titles there are aimed at kids and families. The Blu-ray list is full of otaku titles. If you kid is going to watch Despicable Me thirty times and scratch the disc along the way, a DVD may be more than sufficient. One Piece season eighteen sells much better on DVD (~1,000 copies per release) rather than BD (~250).
