Hmmm....
The 1 episode to open and 4 episodes per volume treatment may need to be changed.
The first episode could adapt volume eight, dare to dream.

How far are we expecting to reach with this season? To the end of what's already been published? (not a LN reader, but curious as to why it needs to change).

From the promotional material, and given seasons I & II each adapted three volumes,I would surmise season III will adapt volumes 7,8 and 9.
Volume 7 ties into volume 9,with volume 8,and it's is two short stories, being an intermission of sorts.
The 8th vol is,well, short.Making me wonder how Madhouse will handle adapting it.perhaps only as a few scenes.
And to answer your last question,Overlord currently has 13 volumes published. The next volume may see a 2019 release (knock on wood/take with a grain of salt).
