FINALLY!!! I love this show to pieces and I honestly thought we were never going to get a physical release at all! I even went out and bought the subpar manga in order to show support.

Way to strike while the iron is... frigid, Funimation.

This is one of those more recent anime that kind of just blended together with others for me, like Blood Blockade Battlefront. Like that show, this one was more interesting than it was good, and after a while I dropped it for better things. Some decent concepts with lackluster execution, like Rolling Girls.

I'm beside myself with joy, this was probably one of the best Animes I've ever watched, I did not expect it to get a dub due to its luck warm reception, but I'm happy it is. Please put your all into this Funimation.

About a month ago Clifford Chapin was hinting at a long lost Chris Bevins dub finally getting released. This is probably that show. I am rather curious as to what kind of licensing issues held this up for so long

Are Funi finally following Sentai's example and releasing 20+ ep shows as complete sets straight away instead of releasing them in two separate parts first? It would explain why it took so long to come out, licence agreements being what they are and all.

About damn time. Criminally underrated show. I suspect it got overlooked because it came out in the same season as One Punch Man.

Saw the October preorders pop up on Funi's store a couple nights ago when Caitlin Glass said the Free! 4-movie box set was available for preorder on Funi and RightStuf. I'm so excited to finally own this underappreciated BONES anime, and it's getting an English dub! I hope they knock the dub out of the park since it wasn't simuldubbed and they could take their time to really make a nuanced adaptation.

Either way, this is an instant but! Can't wait for the cast announcement(s) too!

-Marc.

Yeah, it being an older dub that got held up for licensing reasons wouldn't surprise me. It just doesn't really make sense to give it a brand new dub now.

Until I saw your post here, I had forgotten I had seen that tweet.

That might be the case, or at least they might be experimenting with it. The biggest downside is the added wait time due to licensor requirements. Considering the tweet from Clifford Chapin, it seems like the dub has been done for a while.

On the other hand, it looks like simuldubbed shows might be coming out on disc faster. Right Stuf has shows like Recovery of an MMO Junkie and Dagashi Kashi season 2 listed with October sales dates.

I'm confused, are you saying this was dubbed while the show was airing, despite not being stream in English? Do you have a link to the tweet?

Here's the tweet

we wont know if this is the show he's talking about until we get a cast and crew list.
