The games are a digital-only release in the west. Why would anyone expect the controllers to come over when Bandai Namco can't even convince retailers to stock the game?

I think it’s more not trying to put it in retail stores rather than being rejected or convincing by them. |

Rarely do I think releasing nothing is better than something...
This is one of those rare cases. Seriously, unless there's someone who legit enjoys the games without the drums (is there?), this is a really awful piece of news. Importing the drums is possible and fine, but the game series will not easily win anyone's favor with just a regular game controller, especially if they buy the game not knowing it's made for a controller they can't buy locally. The only upside to this is the possible selection of songs, but that'll only be if they legit bring over all the Japanese songs and don't end up replacing them with something to appeal to the mainstream Western audiences (which this can't be appealing to if they only plan a digital release expecting those who've already heard of it to buy it). |

I can't even imagine playing this without the drum controller. Thankfully as everyone has stated, the controller can be imported and the game is translated.
