The local government there could always build a park near the shrine site but not on the shrine site itself. I wonder how much thought they put into that idea. Probably not much.

Or better yet if the shrine is demolished, I don't think anything good will come from its demolition, it could have negative repercussions much like when people disturb Native American burial grounds.
