or at least some kickass extra goodies. seriously, you buy boxsets because you want to save money, not spend more; so what sense is there in charging that much for it?

Personally I'm hoping for Fuu.

I had a feeling that if Geneon did a box set for Samurai Champloo it'd be a little more expensive than ADV's average box set but $200? Jeez... Don't see myself buying that any time soon.

Yeah, this is asinine - Geneon really needs to learn how to set better price points. Isn't Trigun still something like $150-200, while most box sets coming out these days are $100 or less?

Ridiculous. I was planning on buying the box, but like ThirdWizard unless it comes with Fuu, I'll pass...

That seems pretty typical to me for a Geneon boxed set...if you consider the MSRP for Vol 1 + Box and 6 more discs, you get $40 + 6 * $30 = $220, so $200 is saving money. Plus, you know it'll show up for $150-$160 at Best Buy or online stores. I passed on buying Samurai Champloo originally because the Vol 1 + Box was nowhere to be found at the time, but I might consider it now. And since it's Geneon, the discs will have the original extras, unlike the cheaper, stripped-down ADV thinpacks, so that's part of the dollar value right there. (Maybe a different artbox, like with the Haibane Renmei re-release, but no big deal there.)

Now, if only they'd release a nice 8-disc thinpack of Ai yori aoshi + Enishi like they did with Mahoromatic...

Just think how many ADV thinpacks you could get instead!

$200 can buy alot of anime.

that's why I make it a point to always buy my Geneon and Bandai DVDs as they come out, their boxsets are always more pricey. I stopped buying ADV's individual discs because the box comes out like a month later for 1/2 the price

This reminds me why I haven't seen Last Exile and Trigun.

Geneon charges up the ass for DVDs.

Well, If I had the $200+ to spend on the Samurai Champloo DVDs I would but I dont.
Its definitely a series I love and I would like to support the official release but I just cant.

So because you're broke somehow gave you the right to break the forum rules?
