The mother of all wake-up calls. Time will tell if other notable publications follow suit.

When I've heard about this 2 days ago from Japanese fan whom I knew and I was thrilled about it. I've been collecting Animage magazines regularly for past 20 years and 4 years/48 issues of Animage magazines alone weigh almost 50 lbs. (Plus I don't need bonus clear files and posters included in the magazine)

Now I need to figure out how to download it to Kindle for 800 yen instead of paying US $18 for a single physical copy...

Major Japanese publishers have been going digital in steady pace for a while. It's just that they're slow because they're penny-pinching on their business expense.
Actually Animage is late in digital publication because their rival Animedia is already publishing theirs in digital format.

I think it's a little weird that Newtype doesn't have a digital edition.
