These games are ok, but they really need to start adding some flavour to them. Each one feels, plays, and looks exactly the same.

Just some different Gundams each game. Maybe another new battlefield or two.

Is this an American or a Japanese game, since the Japanese hate the 360. Also, the name change is weird.

From what I've read so far, this game will actually allow your character to get out of his mobile suit, as well as pilot vechiles other than Mobile Suits, so we'll see how this one is as soon as it becomes available...

You did actually read the article, right? This isn't another Fed vs. Zeon clone, it's more like Star Wars Battlefront with mobile suits. Completely different gameplay setup from the previous PS2 games.

Though I'd like to see some space combat action in the next batch of screenshots, as the way the gameplay is being displayed now doesn't seem to friendly to such a thing. And I really would like this very promising gameplay engine to be the first to provide a solid space combat experience in a Gundam game.

Not to mention A Bao A Qu would make a SUPERB last level.

Well, Microsoft is obviously paying big bux to get them to release a Gundam game for the X360. In fact, I think it''s a collaboration between Bandai and Microsoft.

- Microsoft wants a game to appeal to the Japanese
- Bandai wants a game that willl revive the Gundam name in North America, because Gundam is pretty much dormant in North America since Gundam Wing last aired...and from the way it looks like, X360 will probably do very well in North America, thanks to the PS3 delay and what-not.

So it works both way

As for the gameplay, the Gamespot reports says it'll be a Battlefield 1942 type of game, so you'll play the common foot soldier, and you can ride Mobile Suits and kick tiny people's ass. A game that'll allow you to experience what it feels like to be a common soldier, so I'm very loooking forward to this.

The new gameplay system sounds cool. Too bad I won't be able to get a 360 anytime soon.

But are they ever going to go past the One Year War? I mean, we have Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam (should've been called AEUG vs. Titans like it is in Japan), but that's just a clone of Federation vs. Zeon with new mobile suits. They should make a new game with an all-new gameplay system set during Operation Stardust (0083) or the events in Char's Counterattack, or hell, even set in some of the alternate universes, like G, Wing or SEED.

Reviving the Gundam name by... not calling it Gundam?

My God!!! What will happen if the game is good but people find out it was originally called "Gundam"? What a disaster!!!! Sales will drop virtually to zero and gamers all across America will start huge bonfires burning every purchased copy of the game ever, shouting "It's Gundam!!!! How could you lie to us like that!?!?!?!?" Some gamers will be institutionalized for months, with electro-shock therapy being the only remedy in fixing the psychological damage that came from buying a game that was really "Gundam." Others will have nightmares, seeing themselves playing a "Gundam" game for years to come. Oh the travesty. Oh the horror. Anime fans unite. It is your duty to make sure the name "Gundam" stays out of every city, every neighborhood, every household! We must strike the name Gundam from America in order for Gundam to secretly thrive without harming an innocent soul. Quick, call your congressman! Ask them to ban all the Japanese sites! Ban all the fan sites. We must keep the gaming comunity from knowing the dark truth about this game. We must destroy the word "Gundam," in order for Gundam to survive in the U.S.

Who's with me?

*nothing but dead silence*

....yea, I think it's pretty stupid too. I don't see why they can't include the name either.

Hmm, I'm rather mixed on this. It's not so much that "Gundam" was taken out of the title as it is the game itself looks to revive Gundam by being well, not Gundam. I don't like the idea of a Gundam game being an FPS (never did play Dreamcast's Side Story), and I agree with Nagisa that there's gotta be some space combat or something, otherwise it's going to be just another FPS in an attempt to attract Battlefield and Halo fans. I'm guessing that there won't be much story focus (not sure how they would put someone like Lalah and her Elmeth or even the Zeong in). Also any word on how much of the One Year War we're actually going to see? Are we gonna get to see Amuro and Char? Do we get to participate in the major battles like Jaburo? Or is this just going to be taking mobile suits and soldiers and sticking them in stages with the One Year War as the setting? I'm always up for a new Gundam game, and outside of wanting it to be decent I want it to be Gundam. I guess what I'm getting as is I want a little flair to this game outside of your typical FPS which is all that I'm seeing.

Yeah, to be calling it "One Year War" and then leave out at the very least Operation Odessa and the offensive at Jaburo would be like calling a game "American Civil War" without having Gettysburg, or "World War II" without some form of D-Day or Midway (depending on which theatre you're referring to).

Also, though it may be a little nitpicky, the mobile suits in the video I saw seem a little slow and lumbering during the actual gameplay. I don't want to play a Gundam game for Mechwarrior action, I want to play a Gundam game for Gundam action, if you catch my drift. A little bit more speed and agility would be nice.
