RIP Picture Quality. While Nozomi has flaws (12 mbps on a BD- Aria in this case- is unacceptable), they at least encode better than Shout.

(Shout uses an automatic encoding algorithm that's rather poor, and they use a constant bitrate- which is also bad because scenes that need a high bitrate are given equal priority as scenes which don't)

Oh god,
Can we JUST wait until they actually release titles before we start bitching about video rates that most people WON'T see?!?

I saw you on another forum DOING THE SAME THING!

I'm far from a corporatist but can we wait until we actually have titles in hand BEFORE we complain about quality issues?!

FYI, I've been in this collecting for well over 20 years and the video quality issues between the US and Japan generally aren't there.
They're generally far less common than the "professional videophiles" are making them out to be!

And yes, they DO screw up on home video encodes in Japan AND produce bad masters.
Every release of Metropolis on Blu ray so far has been based off a master with its own issues.
There were problems with the recent Blu ray release of Angel Cop but there was nothing Justin or Discotek could do about that because they were given the best tapes existing to work with!

I wasn’t able to see Maquia in theaters as it didn’t play anywhere near me, but I have preordered the UK bluray which releases on December 3rd. I did the same thing with A Silent Voice last year and I was not disappointed. Really love my all-region player. The UK always seems to be faster when it comes to stand alone anime movies.

As someone who doesn't live remotely close to any of the places that these films get released theatrically, I'm hoping this means I'll finally be able to see A Silent Voice and Maquia on blu-ray.
