Though, to clarify, so anyone doesn't get this confused with the Special Editions, this will be an original theatrical movie (The first original Gundam one in over 15 years, since 91's F-91).

I just hope Fukada (who is directing the movie) doesn't go all Char's Counterattack >_>

Not including the SD Gundam movie, Green Divers, and MS IGLOO, of course.

For good reason considering one isn't real Gundam, one isn't a real movie, and the other isn't a movie in any way at all.

Hmm, a GSD movie. I liked SEED very much, but I didn't like Destiny all that much. I wonder what characters will be the focus of the movie, since the director couldn't decide in Destiny? Anime smile

Well to be honest I can't wait. Once Destiny ended I was clamoring for more repeated animation, character reversion, and plot jumps. Seriously though, Destiny really screwed over the entire C.E., so I'd much rather have something else than a continuation of this. Knowing Fukuda, the whole thing is gonna be a compact repeat and I see the movie going one of 2 ways, either we're gonna experience some sort of CCA (although since both major antagonists died, it'll be tough but they'll probably just pull out yet another Al La Flagga clone) or maybe we'll get some sort of ZZ, which would be worse. Now if this covered Astray, that'd be a different story.

It's too bad Destiny's last five or so episodes completely destroyed any and all greatness, or even goodness it ever had to begin with. SEED was good, despite it's fancy retelling of MSGundam with Gundam X elements, and while Destiny seemed to have potential at first, the haphazard character "development" and "conflict" was absolutely ridiculous. The ending seemed like they remembered five episodes to the end of the season that it was indeed near the end of the season and that maybe they should wrap things up. I'd have been happy to see GS end there. :/

I highly doubt that there's gonna be a 3rd season anytime soon - the movie comes first. And as much as I generally like CE, it could really use a break after the movie (if the movie doesn't wrap up the universe completely, that is) - Along with the rumors that have been going around about a 3rd SEED tv series (which should effectively end with the movie's announcement), there have also been ones about a completely new AU, as well as even new UC stuff (Mahq has reported several times about Bandai execs 'promising' that they'll be a new UC series one of these days)

I didn't even think of that... I hope it is Astray. I've been wanting to see Red Frame, Blue Frame, and possibly Gold Frame duke it out in real animation since the manga sometimes had me consufed as to which Gundam was what color.

Although I highly doubt it. Sounds too good to be true, but we'll see when it's announced.

I hope this doesn't start a stupid rumor that the new movie will be based on Astray. Thats the last thing we need in this forum, more repetitive threads.

I'm just gonna repost what I said on MAHQ's forums, because that's pretty much all I really have to say, and it's nicely-enough worded as it is.

I wrote:
It's like a sick comedy. With each successive animation, they're just making it harder and harder for me to remain a fan of the original SEED (or, at the very least, publicly own up to such). I still think the first series is great, and somehow (sheer luck?) turned out solid in spite of the utter hellish mess that was its production staff, but egad there's something rotten in Tokyo when it pertains to everything else SEED-related that doesn't have the names "Astray" or "MSV" attached to it (and even those occasionally tow the line with the constant character revivals and nonsense like the Wild Dagger & all).

If this was how they planned on doing things, they really should've stopped at one series and about half as many Astray volumes. As it is, it's like they're conducting some bizarre experiment in public relations, seeing just how much crap people will willingly accept before it reaches excessive levels.

Ah well. At least we're still promised a new UC title at some point, and Harutoshi Fukui seems enthusiastic about the chances of his upcoming Gundam novel being animated. And there's also at least Apocalypse 0079 to tide us over until then.
