Who were those girls who used to headline this series one hundred years ago? What were their names...Kas...aya...something?

Oh joy, a port the game Tecmo Koei created fake controversy for years ago by claiming that “people who care about social justice” had created a climate that would make the game unsellable...but you could buy it on Play Asia if you wanted to as the game was subbed and region free. Which led to GGers renewing attacks and using the “controversy” to charge themselves back up.

Ugh, I actually was a big fan of DOA until 5: Last Round (Vanilla 5 or 5+ is good though)just kept making more and more DLC. Then they pulled the DOAX3 crap, which was always bogus, Xseed hasn’t had any trouble releasing Senran Kagura games after all.

Yes... fake controversy. As fanservice and sexualization has never been condemned or criticized in American gaming culture. Not a single time.

On a completely different topic, I wonder how the PS4 version will turn out now that Sony is censoring fanservice and sexualization in their games because of western sensibilities
so they are now forcing Japanese developers to submit to American standards now. It'll be funny if the Nintendo Switch version is the definitive version.

Someone tell Sony that the jackass censorship brigade isn’t going to help their sales.

Anyway, this gets a port after building two years or so of controversy? If it isn’t edited to hell it will sell great.

...and now we're in a new era of Sony censorship that we haven't seen in along time. Go figure. Ironically the new game might be censored on the PS4 if they dare actually force a big company to instead of only targeting small developers.

@Chester McCool

yeah, while having mere swimsuits on the beach is fine, it's likely modes where you pose or change clothes, fondle, etc will be censored now on PS4

They said there was no way they could sell their game based on the climate in the West, which was bullcrap when they pushed that story out. Nothing was preventing them from selling it. There wasn’t any huge push to ban the game at the time, they just weren’t sure about risking the localization costs versus sales but instead of admitting that, they figured blaming a nonspecific group so they could get some more units sold.

Now how will Sony handle it, that’s a fair question, though did the story even say it was coming out in the west? I thought it was just Sony’s western side that was censoring.

EDIT: to clarify DOAX2 sales world wide were .25 million at the time of release of DOAX3. The sales didn’t justify risking a release as the localization costs would cut what little expected profits Koei were projecting.

Sony Asia (Mary Skelter 2) and Sony Japan (Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Spring and some other VNs) as well.

What's happening now is that Sony's western side controls everything after a reorganization. All content related approvals go through them. That's why a Japanese PS4 game had more censorship than its Switch version.

Sony’s censorship is worldwide on Japanese games which is why Japanese games are adding extra steam in bath scenes and removing boob bouncing(like how Nekopara is on PS4 worldwide)and rays of light over most of the body(Silverio Trinity). Ironically likely not on Western games that show full nudity.

No point in talking about this one since it might not come to the West.

Ah, thank you for explaining. Indeed, it would suck for the game to be censored and it is somewhat ironic that a switch port would most likely be the best version.

Oh wonderful news! Especially the Switch version since Soyny are now censoring like mad men any game that has even a bit of fan service.

It's a shame the original game couldn't come to the west because of a certain group screaming to themselves and everyone else about how badly this 'represents the wahmen'. It had a problem more than other niche games because they were niche, this is far more realistic and most importantly comes from a big franchise. Niche games don't get the coverage so go under the radar 99% of the time.

Even more so since outrage culture at the most minute of things has rapidly grown since then. Don't see it releasing here sadly, the developers were right then and right now.

So the Switch gets the BS faux-titillation non-game, but not the actual super-fun fighting game. Yeah, that’s fair.

"faux-titillation"? I can assure you it's very titillating Laughing

They're apparently actually going back and censoring already released games now via patches. Noratoto just got patched that changed some of the CG scenes Sony's reign of terror is only beginning Laughing
