I think they may have to reboot this one. Parasite Eve has been out of the minds of gamers for so long that there really isn't much of a choice.

It's probably just a European release of the original game on the PSN since the EU never got the first game. I'm not getting my hopes up for a new title, especially since Square-Enix as it is now is not a company I would trust with it.

If Resident Evil 2 Remake does well, I can see Capcom looking into remaking past classics.
PE may not be as slavishly remade as RE2, but if there's profit to be had, or if they tihnk they can reimagine it to be a big thing, then maybe... But it's likely just a HD port or something... |

I'd be happy with a release of the first game, with or without HD trimmings.
But it would be nice to have a remake of the original game but only if it's the RPG style of the first game. Still is my favorite combat system outside of Crisis Core. |

Filed as Sony works on another pathetic attempt to capitalize on gamers with the release of the "PS2 Classic", and features Parasite Eve 2.
A great series, no question, but it hasn't aged well. I'd love to see a multi-platform reboot. Give the franchise to Crystal Dynamics (but leave Square Enix out of it). |

.....I don't get this comment Parasite Eve 1 & 2 were PS1 games. What do Sony have to do with Square-Enix rereleasing one of their games?
Would be interesting given they own Crystal Dynamics. |

I wonder if people would be open to a updated HD version of the older PE but also adding to the story with a whole new story arc?
A lot of people really enjoyed this game. It had a great story premise. Lots of potential for more. Came right around the era of RE. |

An updated HD version would definitely be a good idea, but adding a whole new arc has the potential risk of people saying it "doesn't need it/adds nothing", or that it "ruins story canon". Shame Parasite Eve lost its steam so quickly after the first game. I heard the second game wasn't too exciting due to the change in mechanics, and we all know Third Birthday is more reviled than liked. |

Yeah. It's like one of those games that worked so well the first time you wonder what else was there to add. But you are right that if they did do a HD updated version people would start asking is there possibility of sequel. But when they did do this game way back when it did have potential for more provided they had it written out somewhere. But what they gave us was it. I know people would complain about being milked for FF. But now people are willing to take an updated version of an older game. Look at RE. If people are willing to buy it now, then I say go for it. But do it right. Improve on what you have but don't change the story unless there was something missing. I would love to see an updated PE. |
