It's kinda funny how no matter how high Tokyo Ghoul:re 2 ranks in the community scores and episode rankings, it can't seem to shake off that last place cumulative ranking...

Nice to see Run with the Wind rising slowly, it's a fun show with a ton of heart that I'm enjoying immensely. Same with Slime too, although to a slightly lesser extent to Run with the Wind.

A goddamn isekai show is #1 this week? Who'd have known. I watched the first episode of the Slime show, and I did like it. I guess having a friendly and caring MC helps things a lot, as well as being genuinely funny.

Started watching Run With the Wind, but just think it isn't my type of show.

Last weeks episode of Gridman was pretty neat, they've kind of moved beyond the end point of most other anime dealing with the topic by now, so things are interesting for sure.

I'm surprised Slime made it so far up, but considering it is an "arc ender" it's not that unthinkable. Actually I find "next weeks episode" to be far superior, where it spoiler[introduces numerous interesting non-generic characters which has been lacking so far in my opinion. Also he(it)'s finally human, which will make things interesting as the "slime surprise" has gotten a bit stale in my opinion. Having him devour a dead body was a bit strange though, especially how they went about it, but those are minor details in the grand scheme of things.]

Zombieland Saga keep bouncing, though I'm glad they've skipped the CGI the last episodes and instead drawn all of it. I felt episode 8 was rather decent, even if it ended on a rather depressing note.

I expected a drop for Juliet considering they're building up to the new arc and introducing some new characters, etc.

Goblin Slayer has the biggest viewership, and with that arguably quite a few people who feels "forced" to watch it in order to know what is going on in the community, no doubt. It's quite rare for a new series to get such a wide audience, though with that comes votes from people who would otherwise prefer other series as well, I guess.

On the other side I guess Bloom Into You attract a specific niche, and where those who doesn't fit into that quickly drops it after the first episode. I guess the same goes for Jojo's and even Thunderbolt (though I managed to rush through it just recently, though I never saw the first season so maybe that fogs the perceived quality a bit).
Update: Continued watching Bloom Into You, and it's growing on me. Might have to change my mind on this one.
Update 2: I stand utterly corrected again. Bloom Into You is a good show that doesn't resort to the same old "yuri" tricks, and could in many ways be considered more a drama and/or romance. They also goes beyond making the theme simplistic, where the characters arn't simple slices off a trope quota, but where you have to look deeper into their individual traits.

A New challenger seems to be Bookseller, though I don't think I'd bother to check it out.

An honorable mention that actually turned out pretty decent this season is Senran Kagura. I did not expect to like that show, but it's one of the few that increase in quality as you get further into it. The first episode was basically girls eating cake, while into the third episode it's ninja battles rivaling Naruto, though undoubtedly with a lot more sexy.

The rest is going pretty much as I expected, staying stable in the ratings. I'm still surprised SAO isn't even higher, though being the top half should be good enough as I actually expected way more haters on that show and assumed it would hit bottom half even if it had been the best show all season because of it's reputation preceding it. I guess the SAO movie probably helped change a lot of minds, as it was a good "reboot" (and opportunity to announce the next season) that didn't take long to watch.

This statistic is badly done. Because in the last week it says that the 18th chapter of Tokyo Ghoul went up to the 20th place. But this week says that the 18th chapter goes down to the 23rd position? If last week the 18th chapter was top 20, it is week Chapter 18 should also be top 20. TG is not the only anime that has changed the post of last week, so that the favorite animenetwork animes are always up.

People have tried to poke holes in the show. I've tried to poke holes in the show. I've complained about petty stuff. Guess what: it's a great show. Yes, it's the path most travelled, but they are doing it in style. Is it high art? no. Neither is Goblin Slayer, a clearly more popular show. For the same reason. Neither of them are predictable. So it's looking like you are safe to tread the trendy path if you zig-zag a lot.

Sam is slacking on his Black Clover reviews.

I'd imagine most of that is pretending you don't want to literally kill the main character for being so annoying, or have flashback fantasies to high school where a bully is beating up some annoying guy, but instead of it being you this time, you are the bully and you are beating the absolute heck out of asta (he doesn't deserve his name capitalized) simply because he's so annoying and you are shouting "IT GET IT NOW. I GET WHY PEOPLE BECOME BULLIES! HE'S SO ANNOYING!" while you punch him as hard as you can in the face.

But I'm just thinking out loud.

The community rating for a number of Re 2's episodes, especially in recent weeks, seems suspiciously high, so I don't know that I would rely on them to support your argument. If they were an accurate representation of the users' opinion of that show, it wouldn't be near the bottom of the rankings. Even 19 is low for an episode supposedly rated 4.8.

Wouldn't be the first time that happened. Re:Zero topped the weekly rankings 9 times in the summer of 2016 and held the top cumulative spot that whole season. Re:Zero also topped the weekly rankings 3 times in the spring of that year. Heck even Demon Lord last season topped the ranks once. And that's just looking at first place. Konosuba also did well, finishing ninth cumulatively in its first season in Winter 2016 and third in its second in Winter 2017, and went as high as third in the weekly rankings in both seasons. Grimgar and Tanya also did well in Winter 2016 and 2017 respectively, both finishing tenth cumulatively and going as high as second and third in the weekly rankings.

It's a real shame Hinomaru Zumo didn't make the review list. It's got more heart and better execution than most've the shows doing well this season!

I do think it is pretty good show and could have ranked respectably enough, but could you expand on why you think its execution is so good?

Golden Kamuy dropped twelve places. Was it the sumo scene?

I've been disappointed with how the main plot line has been put on hold this season in favor of more focus on the characters and their back stories. That said, last week's installment was hardly that different from the ones that have come before.

No, it was Ogata's backstory. Sumo will be next week

Yeah, it's also odd that at this time while new reviews are being uploaded to the site, shows with solid scores in the 4.5-4.7 range for the last 3 days have suddenly dropped to the 3.5-3.7 range. This happened in particular with the episode 9 of both Zombieland Saga and SSSS.Gridman. It will be interesting to see what the next ranking list will look like, and if Re 2 will continue to see a high community score.
