<Sigh>

The question is how long will it be before they actually license this?
We STILL haven't gotten a release of Lupin III Part IV with the JAPANESE audio track!

In other news, I'm glad I got the Fujiko Mine series while it was still hot. It's out of print now and it's going for ridiculous prices online... I hate the aftermarket shark-feeding when anime goes out of print.

I doubt this'll be it for the character, but I wonder if there's any chance this could be a send off for Kiyoshi Kobayashi - voice of Jigen, and the only one of the original voice cast still in the role. He'll be 86 by the time this airs. Then again, what do I know, seeing as how Masako Nozawa is still Goku at 82...

If you do, it will most likely be a separate release, at least that's what happened over here. Collector's Edition has the JP track and the standard edition has the ENG track. Something about different footage, and you have to buy 2 separate sets like it's a video tape from the 90s.

Discotek has NEVER done a collector's edition with a chipboard box for its releases that I'm aware so I kind of doubt they'll bother this time, either.
The English-dialogue release of Lupin Part IV was in a standard Amaray Blu ray case with case with a slipcover -- basically like 95% of the Blu ray releases out there.
There was supposed to be a Japanese audio release of Lupin III Part IV this year -- around this time -- but that date has come and gone and we haven't heard anything from Discotek in months about the situation.

I hope they have something good in store for this plot. It's hard to imagine getting invested in this when it's guaranteed that things will return to normal in the end. The chance of a badass fight scene between Jigen and the others isn't enough to get me interested. I need the story to work.

So this has nothing to do with the loose continuity that has run through the blue-jacket series.

I hope they can do something really creative, something better than a simple fight scene.

The idea of Jigen betraying Lupin was common in the early Manga and im sure I remember an anime episode where he did because of an old mafia girlfreind in trouble.

This is exactly what I thought - the title reminded me of The Last Job, itself a metatextual nod to a retiring member of the cast.
