If it was seriously Starcraft Ghost I think the internet might just implode. That would be the greatest reanimation of all time, no one would ever see that coming. Of course, even though Blizzard seems to be pals with Nintendo again these days, there's no way, right?

I would be so happy if Megaman Legends 3 was revived. So happy!

It's a good week for visual novel fans, as the long-awaited Steins;Gate Elite hits Switch and PS4! This is one of the most beloved VNs on the planet, so if you haven't experienced it yet, this is the version to get

Eh, I wouldn't necessarily agree with that. I've only played a couple hours of it, but so far Steins;Gate Elite has been kind of watered down from the original, and it follows the anime pretty closely. So if you're familiar with the anime, you're not getting a whole lot new here, and isn't new material (or at least seeing what's different) the reason you'd want to play the original VN in the first place? And while I must say I'm actually enjoying the animation, it's sort of a bizarre experience - like watching a movie where there are short pauses between every line of dialogue.

That said, it's not like the anime/elite story is radically different than the original, and they did add some new scenes that were originally exclusive to the visual novel (including some of the more controversial ones, judging by the screenshots on the back cover). So if you haven't played the original, it's not like you'll miss out on anything essential by playing Elite instead, if the idea of playing with anime footage instead of sprites is more appealing to you.

I wish they would bring Soul Calibur 6 to the Switch.

Especially if Link was a playable character.

Anyway, on to the news:

-Scalebound Rumors: Yeah, this one is definitely out of left field, but there is a logic even outside of trademark expiration (plus we live in a post-Bayonetta 2 world, so things are weird). Jason Schreier of Kotaku and Alanah Pearce of inside corroborated that they did hear rumors of Scalebound being revived on a different system as far back as last year. Plus it would be hilarious considering the game started as a Wii game. We shall see. As for other possibilities, MML3 could definitely possible. I'm trying to narrow it down to 3rd party titles because there aren't that many Nintendo projects that have been publicly cancelled

-Amy: I figured she was a shoe-in what with her unique design in the single player modes as well as bringing back not only Hitomi Nabatame, but Heather Hogan-Watson to reprise her. Now to see who the final DLC character is, with bets being on Cassandra. Also, this would mean every SCVI DLC character has been female

And then freaking Reggie drops THIS on us:

animenewsnetwork.com/news/2019-02-21/nintendo-of-america-president-reggie-fils-aime-retires/.143741

It's been real, Reggie. You were great and we'll all miss you.

As for Anthem, Heidi, general consensus has been...eh. So it's more Destiny underwhelming than the mega botches of FFXIV and Fallout 76.

Steins;Gate Elite is disappointing. I was expecting the original visual novel on Switch, not an abridged version of the VN based on the anime with low-res screenshots from said anime
It's the worst of both worlds.

Just curious, though… are any of you playing Anthem? Like, how janky is it right now? Fallout 76 level? Launch Final Fantasy XIV level? I really want to know.

Destiny levels of grind and lack-luster loot, with slightly more story and no PvP. Add in some downright baffling mistakes* and I'd recommend holding off for at least a month. It's also loading screen after loading screen. Remember Everquest 2, and trying to get from the race-specific sections of one of the major cities to the main gates? It's like that, only worse.

*For example, there is a main story quest made of four major components, each with challenge-like requirements to progress such a 'Open 'X' number of chests'. The problem is, they didn't link progress for everyone in the party. When a party member opened a chest, only they would get credit; and since that chest would then despawn... In other words, they made the kind of mistakes MMOs made and resolved almost two decades ago. Such tunnel-vision reminds me strongly of both FO76 and FFXIV 1.0. A kind of 'we're doing our own thing and will reinvent the wheel because reasons' attitude. It makes me wary of the future for the game, frankly.

So what is the game, then? If I had to guess, I feel like Megaman Legends 3 is a smart bet. Megaman 11 did well, the game has appeal to the Switch's audience, and it'd get a lot of fan goodwill if it came back. For a real out-of-nowhere longshot, how about Starcraft Ghost?

Megaman Legends would be something people were expecting as people have been waiting for that game to be released even before it went into production. Though I don't know how nuch goodwill a revival would muster being an exclusive title.

Personally I'd rather have either Advance Wars or Viewtiful Joe 3.

Advanced Wars seems more likely. I have to imagine it's a Nintendo IP being revived.

It’s not going to happen, but I would really like to see Luong be the 2nd KoF guest character who joins Mai. She’s not the most popular or consequential, but out of all the KoF ladies I think everything from her visual design, personality, and fighting style would be the best fit for DOA.

Really excited that they brought Mai back for 6 since her inclusion into 5 came so late into that game’s life. Feels great to have DOA back.

There are loads of KOF characters I'd like to see in DOA (I'd like to see Luong too). If the KOF DLC character is female, I think Blue Mary would be one of the easiest to transition into DOA due to her fighting style and counters, but I don't think she's super popular. If the character is male, I think Ryo could be interesting. His specials could consume Break Gauge similar to Art of Fighting and Hitomi/Ein are also fellow karate users.

Personally, I'm hoping for Kyo. Cool

I’d argue that Blue Mary is the only reason why KoF XIV got a 2nd DLC pack. Next to Rock Howard, she was the most requested character and many people were very salty that she wasn’t in the 1st round of DLC along with him.
