So is the new anime supposed to be a prequel or what? The article spends more words on previous anime and light novel publication than on the to-be released one.

Presumably because not much has been released about the new series in terms of plot.

There's not enough material in the LNs (so far?) to justify a prequel episode, never mind a whole arc. Unless they add a bunch of stuff. IIRC the first anime adaptation covered it all with just one flashback scene.

First impressions are a big deal though, so it makes sense to start the story out before those asinine dwarfs show up.

I have shocked myself with now interested I am in this. The updated character designs and animation look great.

Never seen the original anime, so I'm wondering if this is a remake or not. Seemingly, it seems like it has "prequel" type material planned...

It looks like a remake that begins rather earlier than the previous first season. The classroom stuff is prequel that was shown only in flashback in the series. On the other hand, the two blonds (male and female) shown at the end of the clip first meet Orphen at the beginning of the first season and the dragon is the central theme of that season.

This, of course, is valid only if they don't mess with the plot. Maybe this time around we can get a release of the light novel series.

I’m not sure what you mean? It even says in the article that the light novel series has been officially licensed by J-Novel club, and the first four volumes are translated digitally. You can find them on Amazon/Kobo/iBooks/BW, etc. If you mean release of paperbacks, the English fan base right now isn’t nearly large enough to support that.

Prequel to Orphen!? Wow! I hope this means potential remake.

While I have not seen the previews adaptations, should I?, from what I've seen from clips the designs here thankfully seem to look somewhat close to them. The animation looks good from the few scenes shown.

From the way it's presented, I don't think you'll NEED to. But personally I'd recommend watching season 1 since this will spoil reveals in it. Season 2 is GARBAGE, just skip it lol

@LegitPancake

For me, if it is not on paper it doesn't exist. Wink I'd like to read the series, but not that badly.

J-manga is publishing How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord as a real book, Orphen should appeal to the same market.

JManga is a service that shut down in 2013, you're looking for J-Novel Club. Demon Load has the digital sales to justify a print run. If you want Orphen to be printed, get people to buy the digital books.

@myskaros

It will have to sink or swim on its own. I have no influence on anyone and I will not buy digital books as long as I have enough real books to keep me busy.
