I'm so excited to see my favorite Fate series get more animated material even if it's just a comedy OVA. Will be a nice holdover until season 5 since the manga is taking forward to release chapters. Great to see basically EVERY character is going to appear here, I've missed them all, especially Illya, Miyu, and Kuro.

So Phantasm in the name isn't just for joke, they literally making some sort of humorous collab between Fate Kaleid and Carnival Phantasm instead of usual fanservice. Sweet.

It plays back into the original Visual Novel's "Mana transfer" and yes it's meant to be fanservice, series has always done a great balancing act between action, comedy, and fanservice. Also what do you mean awkward? Illya's and Miyu's relationship is one of the sweetest in the franchise and the show totally ships them together, I guess I can see it being awkward if you're against yuri content 
I don't know, seems like you're just trying to stir the pot on a Prisma Illya post with an unrelated statement because you can. |

I have nothing against yuri being in magical girl shows. I've been advocating for a true blue, honest-to-God, balls to the wall, no holds barred, canon yuri loli magical girl series for a long time. I do commend Illya for being "technically" the first magical series to be not only yuri but also had the balls to actually, unapologetically, and graphically show two grade school girls kissing(Something Nanoha could never do). The problem here is that it doesn't feel romantic or genuine. It just feels like its trying to be as shocking or fanservicey as it can possibly be and being also just played for laughs, hence the Illya and Miyu parts. Illya and Miyu don't only have joke scenes though...Illya likes maids as an in joke towards her F/SN counterpart and yes it "Turns her on" because she's a bicurious girl (most characters in Fate tend to be). They have far more intimate moments later on that aren't just "played for laughs" though and really show how close they are, I would literally go and grab screenshots but I don't want to spam this thread. It Sounds like you have an issue with the series having comedy elements in the first place but honestly the comedy is slowly phased out later on when 3rei starts which is why they have to do a OVA focused on comedy because there's no time in the main series for it anymore. |
