As a long time Free fan, I can say with confidence that High Speed Starting Days is the best part of the franchise. They did such a remarkable job with the character drama and I easily connected with the new characters better in this two hour movie than I did any of the new characters in the entire third season. The self-contained nature of the movie made it feel like it's own mini-season that I really appreciated. The animation is definitely the most beautiful of the franchise. I just don't understand why it took Funimation so long to release this movie in the US.
