Am I the only one who felt that interviewer was a complete jerk and rushed the whole thing, not to mention brought up some pretty stereotypical and naive representations of otaku?

The guy is an idiot and I agree he brought up very sterotypical stuff. He did that when he had Jhonen Vasquez on last year.

They never research any of their interviews. If you want to watch a funny interview on AOTS, go watch the one with Something Awful. I think it explains a lot about the show.

Kevin was fine. Gibson was the one who kept taking cheap shots. He had nothing else to offer.

He seemed like he was insulting the interviewer.

Gibson is a tool. It was amusing reading that to see Jonathan Mays point out Gibson's ignorance.

Nope, I thought that too.
And that seems pretty typical of of interviewers when the
topic is anime or anime-related. Sometime ago I
heard something on NPR about anime and the guy conducting
the interview mispronounced names of shows, rushed the
whole interview, and was very mis-informed on anime
fans.

Well, sometimes I think that they do. But if they actually sit down and talk with them, then they'll find out that they're just normal like them.

Define normal....

wats abnormal about being passionate about the things you love? and how did they pick her for the interview??? if ya want to know something about a "superfan", u ask a "superfan"!

Golly, looks like they spent all of four minutes discussing anime. I also love how half the sentences weren’t finished because of interruptions.

I see this attitude toward any geeky subculture: that fans are obsessed, unreasonable, and have absolutely no handle on reality. Dungeons and Dragons, gaming, anime, comics, you name it. And while there are definitely quite a few fans like that, I would say that the majority are NOT. Even though anime is slowly seeping into the mainstream, attitudes like these guys are very common and looove to misrepresent fans in the media.

Since the other one is locked I just want to voice my support for Mr. Mays. Under the circumstances I think you came off as the one who who really knew what they were talking about. Everything else was working against you. I mean four and a half minutes between three people, a host whose research on the subject was lacking, and quite frankly an opponent whose knowledge was even worse. I give you two thumbs up, an A+, whatever. Your the winner.

Also I like how you mentioned Pokemon and Perfect Blue in the same sentence.

oh and thanks for hosting it. Very Happy

That segment of the show is never very long, plus it is recorded live and has many things to cover in each show. Kevin Pereira isn't personally rushing the guests, but he has to move it along because of the segment length.

Also, this debate was meant so that anyone would get the idea. A host needs to address such issues, and the stereotypes are there. Since anime fans aren't the show's only audience, that was the way the questions went.

Anyone who found it rushed, it's the same thing. Obviously a live show only has so much time for each segment.
