I just want them to finish releasing the rest of Higurashi before they move on to other projects in the franchise.

Witch Hunt isn't involved with the Higurashi translation project, so it wouldn't change a thing having them translating Ciconia (and subsequently Saku) at the moment.

@danpmss: Witch Hunt wasn't involved in Higurashi, but MangaGamer was. (And MangaGamer did completely translate the original Higurashi. It's the Hou rerelease that is incomplete.)

Witch Hunt is working with Manga Gamer as translators for Ryuukishi07 related works atm, is what I mean (Umineko stuff, RGD and now Ciconia).
It's pretty useless for one to complain about this getting "prioritized" instead of Higurashi when the teams have nothing to do with each other and Witch Hunt has never touched Higurashi, that's my point.

Also, they do their thing and are already with their hands full with the simul-release, I highly doubt MangaGamer would ever "transfer" them (as if they could do that in the first place) for any reason at all to help with Higurashi (which would also be a very stupid idea on its own, if that was to be the implication).

It's not a question of "priority", it's a question of whether the people who have been complaining for years that Higurashi is being released too slowly are going to want to buy Ciconia when all of Higurashi isn't "out" yet. I know that the two don't have anything to do with each other from a production standpoint, but consider about how this looks to all the people who still think asking Funimation to "make another season of High School of the Dead" does anything. I'd rather that, from an optics perspective, they rush to release all of Higurashi before this, because I think it's healthier for growing the more casual side of Western light novel fandom, which at this point still has huge growth potential.

I see your point, but if that was the case, they could just link anyone to the old translation for the old Higurashi Kai release, which wasn't half-bad for the final (and by far longest) 2 chapters.

It's already available, and what we are getting on Steam is a more polished retranslation for something pretty readable that was the only thing we had for years.

It's not like Rei and Hou are essential for either Umineko. I would argue that their mistake was taking those (the old ones) out of the store.
