Wow, I didn't think it was possible to be more disappointed in KH3, although I suppose that's on me, I was so distraught over how badly it failed my expectations that I didn't think of its future critically.

Hey, maybe the DLC will have characters or settings people care about.

Or we’ll just get some stupid variant Heartless as a secret boss when everyone and their mother wanted to fight Darth Vader or Doctor Doom.

I'm with you on that. KH3 was really luke warm and the DLC isn't going to make it better, in fact it's the opposite, it's only going to make it worse.

Since we got a fully completed game full of meaningful content, I do not see any reason to be mad at this, we got a full game, it was not carved up and then sold as DLC.

You're making it sound like the game deliberately left parts of the story out like Final Fantasy XV. With how long people waited for it, perfection would have been a disappointment.

Thirdsies. Unless the DLC contains a completely reworked scenario with all of of the character arcs that should have been in this game + an actual conclusion to the story, it's a pass.

Nomura promised us the end of Xehanort's story, but not Sora's. And so it delivered on that.

That's a markedly disingenuous way of framing this installment and the issues people take with its ending. This was the end of the Xehanort saga, that is all of the character arcs and stories (including Sora's) which are encapsulated within that broader narrative framework. It was never just about Xehanort: everyone was meant to matter, but this game spends more time constructing future plot points for its terrible gacha spinoff to address than giving main characters like Namine and Kairi their due. Sora's story was never going to end here, but it was always fair to presume that we would arrive at an ending to his story so far, because that's what the Xehanort saga represents: instead we get endless sequel bait and an unearned cliffhanger rooted in the lowest tier of world-building usually reserved for filler arcs in shonen anime.

Its funny that you'd mention that, MGS5 was released as an incomplete game due to friction between Hideo Kojima and Konami and I would still rank it as a narratively better written game than KH3.
I've no complaints about KH3 from a gameplay standpoint as its incredibly well done although a tad bit too easy(but that's not one of the factors as to why I'd rank it as bad).

It's story is... really bad.
It's got a number of high points but there are far more low points.
The absurd amount of wait time between games also worked to their disadvantage because it allowed people like me who played KH 1 and 2 as a child to grow up and reassess the story as mature, logical adults, and ... its filled with more plot holes than swiss cheese.
For me to explain exactly why KH is such a bad story would require a great deal of time and research so I'd just say search youtube as there alot of fans who have already done than.
But since saying 'go look for it yourself' might sound like I'm passing on offering an explanation so I'll say this: KH3 was far too preoccupied in setting things up for the next instalment that they severely weakened the impact if their current story, and a number of these 'set-ups' came from thin air. One example spoiler[is that mysterious girl that saix and axel suddenly just now decided to talk about, if this character was truly meant to have existed beforehand there would have been some mention of her in the original games(excluding final mixes). Ventus was a great example of it being done right, back in 358/2 xibar sees Xion as Ven in a scene for maybe 5 seconds but it was so out of place and never explained until the very next game BBS]

Well, glad I didn't buy since it was $30 in Amazon. Will wait for a "Complete" edition on sale, even if it takes years. There's a lot of other games to play anyway.

I'll pass on the regular edition, season pass, and GOTY Edition. See everybody two years later on the Ultimate Edition.
