But will original anime staff return to the project? That is a huge IF at the moment

But if this gets Mappa treatment or similar, no problem for me (in fact that would be an upgrade)

Really hope that this gets a solid team behind it, like how Mappa has done with Dororo. I adore the Manga, but that Bee Train adaptation didn't do Samura's work any justice.

Crossing my fingers that it isn’t CG. I’m hoping they get a good director and staff.

You give this to Bones with really any of their Directors but particularly Natsume Shingo and you have the greatest anime to ever exist. (Slight hyperbole)

This better be splatterific. The first adaptation was just kinda there. It really did nothing more than serve as an intro to the series.

Well, whoever gets it better do a good job or there will be riots

I'm usually quite lenient when it comes to choosing the voice actors for characters...but after trying to watch the Bee Train's old BOTI anime.....none of the frikkin' voices sound right!!

Of course, poor video quality might play a role.... but while the voice actors themselves are top notch(Tomokazu Seki, Shinichiro Miki, Mamiko Noto etc), they just don't seem to fit the mental image I have of the characters...and the anime itself just looks awful...nothing left of Samura's magnificent artstyle...so I second the opinion that any new version that isn't CG is a better version... As for seiyuu, i have some suggestions... I'm quite pumped about this ^^

Seiyuu suggestions

Manji - Tomokazu Seki(the only one that sounded good from the old series)
Rin - Maaya Sakamoto/ Saori Hayami
Anotsu Kagehisa - Yuichi Nakamura/Satoshi Hino
Magatsu - Yoshimasa Hosoya
Shira - Kenjiro Tsuda(or some other guy with a more "antagonistic" voice)
Giichi - Junichi Suwabe
Hyakurin - Sayaka Ohara

....these are just coming from the voices I have imagined in my head for the characters...

I wonder if Funimation would pick this up.

Eh ... Dropped the manga around 120 chapters in. The whole "mc doesn't die and is immortal" being the most obnoxious piece of plot armor got really boring for me, especially with Blade of Immortal. Little chance of the anime giving me an an excuse to drag through the last hundred chapters, but I might only give the anime a shot to see some of the decent fights that appeared from time to time.
Seems like a BONES type anime, given how well they did with SotS. MAPPA a contender also.
Regardless of how good the animation company is, the story and plot will still be there, and i'll feel the tediousness I got from the manga arc after arc, because the core idea was still there throughout. which is unfortunate.

That´s what they said about Berserk while first promoting the 2012/13 films. We´ll see. The manga would be better served by a page to screen adaptation that takes liberties. It´s still a pretty good read but it could have been one of the greats.

Please, don't be another Berserk.

But honestly, I don't really care.
I would be much more happier if it was "Wave, Listen to Me", to show to the world that Samura can't only do violence.

Half the story arcs aren't even about Manji.
He isn't really the protagonist in this story.

Yeah, hopefully it just avoids that and this will be great news.

Yeah, I loved Sword of the Stranger so it'd be amazing to see them be the ones taking a shot at this with some of their big talent with their great action animation pedigree and direction.

MAPPA would be good too, Dororo has a great style and I've loved a lot of their action series and many of them have had cool stylistic touches to their action animation sometimes. Since they're just finishing/coming off of Dororo though I don't know if they'd go right into another series like this though.
