I'm glad it has been delayed. Overworking the animators would have been a nightmare. Not worth it.

Oof. Black Panther and Deadpool showed it's possible to do huge numbers in February, but the month still historically had a reputation of being a "dump month" for films the studios knew weren't gonna make a lot of cash. So I don't know if this is a vote of confidence or not.

At least the animators and visual effects artists have some extra time to fix Sonic's design, but I'm still worried about the movie's plot.

Just as I expected given that live-action Sonic's initial design wasn't resonating quite well with the fan base.

Let´s double the budget along the way shall we, what can go wrong... Paramount should have pushed out the turd and flushed it immediately but nope. February is also pretty close to the dumping ground of January. Not a good spot for any film, regardless of (nonexistent) quality.
Edit: I forgot to make a joke about game delays. So it´s the trusts if game adaptation after all. |

It's not--But now that Deadpool, Fifty Shades and Black Panther, in that order, have made February an "in-demand" month for cult titles on February Valentine's/President's weekend ("Little March"), it's a last-ditch slot of desperation for studios hoping to get a high-pressure weekend blast before the reviews kick in. Now, if it'd been moved to January, you could grab a shovel and save time.

I sometimes wonder if all that wasn't planned. Nobody was even talking about that Sonic movie. And now everyone is. That backlash might end up positive for the movie.

Even if Sonic looked accurate, that doesn't change the fact that the movie looks like crap.
