The English narration followed by GS's catchphrase spoken in Japanese made me laugh.

The girl being held by the goblins pretty much confirms this will cover the events of vol 5. Still 2020 is a long way away plus the fact that it will only be shown in 9 theaters in Japan doesnt sound like much. I think this wouldve been better off as a second season instead of a movie.

This is an OVA episode and not a full length movie. I hope Crunchyroll will be able to stream it.

Does this mean they're skipping the whole Festival arc? I honestly wouldn't mind if they did. That's where the manga is right now, and it's not as enjoyable as the stuff before. Gets a little too harem-y for my liking. One of the things I like about the series is that it avoids being a harem despite there being several girls interested in Goblin Slayer.

I don't know. OVAs usually have a reputation for having higher production values than you would see in a normal season.

To be fair the volume where these events take place is kind of a standalone arc and while there is mention of the harvest festival (and by extension its respective arc) being over (obviously as its winter) the anime version can simply skip over any mention of the harvest festival and it would still be fine.

The production values arent really a problem. My concern is the content that they might skip stuff that would lessen the intensity and quality of the adaptation unless they were to make it at least 30-40 mins long though they can actually pull that off too.

All this hype for an ova seems a bit excessive. I’ll understand stand if they animate the whole volume into it but I’m not getting my hopes up. I’m still mildly upset they did my boi Goblin Slayer dirty, what with CG’ing the f**k out of him almost every opportunity they could. It’s not about ‘oh, it’s just a few walk or run cycles’, it’s about the principle, god damn it! Keep the CG shit in ED where it looked so-and-so, expect maybe that one scene where they matrixed and it was actually pretty f**king badass. Other than that, get that CG shit outta here.

I think they might actually try to cover the entire volume considering almost the entire vol takes place at wherever they are with the goblins. My only concern is the runtime cos theres no way they can pull it off in 20-something mins unless they rush it to hell.

I'm not sure how I feel about this trend of anime adapting story arcs as OVAs in between seasons. It's fine if it's a filler in special or something like that but it's a little frustrating if it advances the plot and it interferes with the flow of the next season. It seemed like they started doing this more often when Golden Kamuy came out.

I had hoped for a second season and it is surprising to find out that this won't even be a movie but just an OVA. The 5th volume of the light novel would take 3 episodes to fully cover and they will have to cut a lot from if they adapt it into a single episode. That is a pity since it is one of the better volumes of Goblin Slayer.
