As for the localization, it's top-tier stuff. M2 apparently did some hacking wizardry to fit a much bigger English script into the game,

Hacking indeed, it's the ACTUAL SNES ROM with the script hacked into it, it plays on Switch through N2's own proprietary emulator. And about that 'size', the ROM is actually expanded to 6MB (for comparison, the earlier fan translation managed to keep the original ROM size)...
Reason for all this supposedly being Square losing the original source code so their hands were sort-of tied aside a total remake...

Roughly a week ago a few groups managed to extract the ROM in question, and to prove viability, they showed it working on actual SNES emulators. Smile

Mana is life. Now to wait on the Trials remake. That looks like an extensive remake from the ground up, so I'm looking forward to that

My first exposure to the Mana series was with Sword of Mana, which was a remake of Final Fantasy Adventure. It's... a thing. It's great that the Mana collection finally came to the US, I hope I can get it if I ever pick up a Switch.

I really don't like to even insinuate that illegally downloading something is the way to go, you should always try to support the creators, but I do seriously have to question why professionals couldn't, or didn't bother to, fix bugs that amateurs were able to over a decade ago.

Because in some instances the professionals legitimately may not know how to fix things in others they just simply don't (or can't) dedicate the time to fix them.
