I'm still trying to understand why replacing everyone in the remake but still keeping the VAs who have been playing these characters since Kingdom Hearts/Advent Children for the spin-offs and crossovers.Meanwhile,Takahiro Sakurai,Toshiyuki Morikawa and company are reprising these characters as usual... |

Two theories - The long established voice actors might be too expensive for Square Enix America to bother bringing back so they went with new voices. Dissidia does not have much voice acting, so they wont be paid as much as a large expansive game like FF7. - More name recognition with the general population. Cloud is now voiced by an actor who's done MTV and The CW shows like Teen Wolf, so they might see that as a bigger draw for non-Final Fantasy fans than using his established actor. The FF7 remake seems to be aiming at non-fans of the franchise rather than core friends from what all we've been seeing so this is a marketing move. The Japanese seiyuu don't change because Japan is much more engrossed in voice actors than the west is so changing them would be catastrophic. I'm just happy Tifa looks like Tifa in this. I would have much preferred this design in the remake. I suppose it also helps ease people's fears of future censorship in Square games. Maybe this sinister ethics department was only established for the FF7 remake. Their other games seem unaffected it. |

Nothing is stopping them from applying whatever amount of bounce physics they feel is appropriate. It's almost like they could have kept the same exact outfit and simply not had them bounce around like crazy. Nuts right? It's pretty clear that both CERO and to a lesser extent the ESRB have started to crack down hard on things. That probably explains the decision to cover her bare legs, loosen up the skirt, add spats and "restrict" her. I'm personally more concerned about the edgy moments in the original being toned down or removed entirely just to keep a T (or CERO-C) rating. I know Tifa will end up getting modded on the PC version and if all the cut-scenes are rendered in-game it won't be a problem at all. Everyone will get what they want...except PS4 owners. It'll be even better than the Dissidia version because it will have those amazing abs. On a side note: IMO Nier Automata being M (CERO-D) is part of what I feel made it great. I almost feel like if they had more faith in it becoming a hit they'd of forced Yoko Taro to alter his vision and get it down to a T (CERO-C). In reaching that wide mainstream appeal it may not have been the amazing hit, story and game it end up being precisely because it was an uncompromising vision full of weird off-putting things. I just don't want FF7 Remake to be some focus group approved thing in the end. The original was super creative and had a wide range of tones and atmosphere. I don't want the Hollywood version of FF7, I want the passion project version of FF7. |

I don't know about CERO but the ESRB hasn't cracked down on anything.
What PC version?
I don't think most PS4 owners care about this. It'll be even better than the Dissidia version because it will have those amazing abs.
Why would they have done that when Gestalt and Replicant were both CERO D?
Just like the Drakengard trilogy?
What you get regardless of what you're expecting isn't going to be the same exact experience you got when you played the original. So you'd best put the nostalgia to the side and temper your expectations.
Their other games including the FF7 Remake have far more pressing issues than breasts sizes.
Kinda dulled by the fact that Dissidia NT is......not very well liked. |

Right, because fixing what ain't broke is so going to drag Square-Enix into the red.
Then it's a bad marketing move. I see no reason why Steve Burton, George Newburn et al. couldn't have been brought back to this game and also attract fans and non-fans alike. This isn't the mid-90's anymore so there is no reason to think that RPGs or action RPGs aren't prevalent in the gaming mainstream. Final Fantasy 7 is a well-established property by now. It'll sell! You don't need recasts to ensure that it will. |

Insert joke about ethics here.
The joke was NT stood for No Tifa. It's time to retire that now. Dissidia NT is fun, but it's less Dissidia and more Fighters now. For some people that's a deal-breaker, but it also is more balanced and has a higher skill ceiling which is nice. |
