I never thought I'd see the day that Symphogear got a physical release in the west.

Given that it is a new show, I thought that they would have dubbed The Great Passage.

Never thought it was Discotek doing the physical release of Symphogear, glad it's happening can't wait until they release the other seasons.(though it sucks it probably won't get a dub)

Nice to see they getting Medabots, still sicks that Shout! Factory didn't the other seasons. So hopefully Discotek release the other seasons(never finished season 3).

Really happy that I'll finally be able to watch The Great Passage. Will also pick up Cleopatra and the Galaxy Express 999 title.

I hope I'll one day see Sabu to Ichi Torimono Hikae listed in this kind of article. I've wanted to see that for so long.

It's a great time to be an Old School Anime fan! Picking up Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan, NG Knight Lamune & 40 and one version of MedaBots. I just remember the ref being good in the dub other then that not much. I guess Cleopatra will be uncensored?

One can only hope. The only one we're missing now is Senya Ichiya Monogatari (One Thousand and One Nights)

Wait what, that's old school? Didn't that comes out after 2001?

Every old school anime should be available on BDs.

I think it's a very underrated title so I guess cult classic is a better word for Dokuro-chan.

Is this reality? I had accepted it as inevitable that Symphogear would never get a western release. It just seemed like one of those unfortunate realities.

This is awesome. I've always wanted to just have that show on the shelf. One of my favorite franchises in general, but always been kind of limited to putting money back towards it. And now here we are. No doubt I will buy this when it comes out sometime next year.

Strong selection and certainly more than any other company has announced at Otakon, though I still hold out forlorn hope for Recently, My Sister is Unusual to get a Blu-Ray release.

Early 2000s anime are generally considered old school at this point, especially if they're 4:3 like both the 2005 and 2007 Dokuro-chan OVAs are. 2006 is something of a dividing line these days, as some titles like Code Geass, Haruhi, Death Note, and Ouran retain some degree of relevance and evergreen-ness with younger viewers. Though many probably regard anything from before 2010 as too old, and that may shift again as we move into a new decade.

It came out in 2005, which is to say 14 years ago. One could certainly argue about how far back something has to have come out to be considered old school, but sooner or later that point will come, and the early to mid 2000s are closer to old school than new.
