Ten years since the anime started, and only now do we get a non-Japan exclusive home console game. But by god, have I always wanted one.

Since its KoeiTecmo, I'm fully expecting a mosou game, which makes perfect sense since no one in that series knows the meaning of "self-control".

Developed by Gust who make JRPGs.

Nice!!! I saw the trailer earlier on twitter and thought that maybe the West wouldn't get it, but happy to see that it is going to be released here!

I was thinking the same thing. It feels kind of late, but then again, I figured we would never get a Fairy Tail game here, so I'll take it.

I just REALLY REALLY hope that when this game gets an English release that it will also have an English dub.

Now I'm wondering about the story. Everything in this trailer is clearly pointing to the Grand Magic Games era at the very least. Will it go beyond that? Or will it split off into an alternate story? I know Mashima once released rough concept sketches showing the GMG going in a drastically different direction from what we got in the end.

I have wanted a true western release of a Fairy Tail for so long, the only thing that could ruin it is if they don't English dub it

Seeing he final shot of the guild, I can't help but wish they include an area in the game where you can upgrade Magnolia (like in Ni no Kuni II). I would love to see the guild hall get bigger and more impressive as the game progresses.

While that would be cool, KoeiTecmo doesn't seem interested in providing English dubs for anime games going by their releases in recent years.

Huh damn, a FT game.

I’m honestly surprised it’s not an Arena Brawler or Fighting Game.

Color me interested. Here’s hoping the gameplay is dope.

Well that's slightly disappointing, dont know how this would work in a JRPG format. Also means I would have to play through the series story...which is not something to look forward to post-Tenrou.

When one of my besties showed me the trailer, she only showed me the trailer for the PS4, so I was so disappointed that I couldn't play this (my husband and I don't own a PS4 and have no plans to buy one anytime soon, and even if we did the controls for PS4 confuse me to no end). But now seeing that this will be on the Switch, this is going to be a top game of 2020 for me to get. I'm very much looking forward to playing this now!

I do not know the accuracy of this, but apparently this is because dropping dubs saves time and money, and because gamers are more interested in Japanese anyway: https://www.reddit.com/r/Atelier/comments/br0k4k/why_atelier_stopped_having_english_dubs_according/

That said, Fairy Tail's dub is already pretty popular. Maybe they'll make an exception just this once......?

That depends on the franchise. Obviously no dub means saving money but at the same time a dub gives a game more exposure.
