Don't really see the point. The last tv show bombed, and the "remake" from Spielberg was only a hit in Japan.

It was a hit in Japan, but not so much here, sadly. A Spielberg remake? Wait, are you talking about "A.I."? Isn't the creator of Dexter's Lab directing this one? I read somewhere (possibly here) that it was going to be a mixture of live-action and CGI. Either way I'm wicked excited. IMO, they should use the Raconteurs' "Broken Boy Soldier" as the theme song. It just screams "Astro"! |

Damn I didn't even know there was a astro boy flick.....still I wouldn't mind if it did come out. But seeing as most of these anime films never make it off the ground I am not going to expect anything until I see a trailer. |

No. Imagi only does animation. The CG Ninja Turtles flick will be their fourth project. Their first was Zentrix and their second was father of the pride followed by Cat Tale. They are also doing the animation for Kowajiri's new Highlander movie.

I highly doubt Genndy Taryakovksy will be involved with Astro Boy, as he's currently involved with Power of the Dark Crystal. |

I'd be psyched about it simply because i've never seen astro boy but i know how tremendous of an impact it has had on anime.

Well, the internet movie database has listed for quite some time that Genndy Tartakovsky was going to do an Astro Boy movie. I always wondered if that was just a rumor or not. And many people on the imdb were complaining about how they hated the idea of Tartakovsky "ruining' Astro Boy. I hope the people on this board are more open-minded... I think Tartakovsky's animation is some of the best to be coming out of north american studios, and he is a great non-verbal story teller. I am excited to see what he will do with this. |

I know there's a big push for anime to be adapted into live-action and CGI versions. But I, for one, feel that series that began as traditional animation should stick to their roots when moving to the big screen. The Astroboy series has always been traditionally animated, and I really would've liked to see a big budget animated film version similar to Metropolis . . not Barnyard.

I was in Japan last week and I kept seeing huge poster ads for "PROJECT:ATOM" in the JR train stations in Tokyo. I wish I'd taken a picture. They just show Atom lying on his back, eyes closed with the aforementioned text below. Good to have a bit more info as to what's actually going on.
Now if someone would just explain that mysterious Giant Robo website. |

It most likely will be traditionally animated. That's how the studio is handling Highlander and Gatchaman. |
