This is the end of the all Ash traveling around the regions and the beginning of Ash traveling all across the region. Sad

Also, who voices Scorbunny, is it Saki Ogasawara herself?

Can you give me a credit for the news tip? You forgot that, ANNs?

We didn't receive your emailed news tip until after we posted the article. I also watched the announcement firsthand since I live in Japan, so that was the source of the article.

A reboot without Ash always felt like a long shot. As much as older fans might complain about Ash and Pikachu, they're still popular characters with kids and casual fans as shown by the positive reception he got from winning the Alola League. Pikachu is a key mascot for the franchise and Rica Matsumoto and Ikue Otani are irreplaceable parts of the anime. I am surprised that the new anime doesn't seem to be a Pokemon Masters theme show and instead seems like they're capitalizing on Pokemon GO with having the new character named Go? It's cool though he's being voiced by the same VA who plays Deku in MHA though. It's going to be kind of weird to have a Galar Pokemon in the show but Galar itself won't be a central focus. But I think there could be some potential from Ash revisiting past regions if they bring back more classic characters we haven't seen in awhile like Max and May and Dawn. I'm also glad they're not straying too far from the Sun & Moon art style as I always loved how fluid and expressive it was but they still seem to be streamlining and improving upon it.

Could be. And not to be weird, but I could see Johnny Yong Bosch doing the voice of Go in the English dub of this new anime. He does a pretty good job of voicing pre-teen boys as seen in his roles in Doraemon and Yo-kai Watch, both of which I wish got more respect in North America.

Johnny Yong Bosch works at Los Angeles, so i'm not sure he will voice the character. But they should cast some voice actors in the dub that are New York-based voice actors.

Also, Shinji Miyazaki is not composing the next Pokemon series anymore, instead Yuki Hayashi will compose the soundtrack for the next Pokemon series instead.

For the opening theme and ending theme, as the soundtrack of the OP and ED are produced by Sony Music Japan, i would love to see XOX performing the opening theme while the ending would be Rica Matsumoto herself. For the second ending theme, i want Nogizaka46 to perform the ending theme.

I think a world tour series sounds super fun. Also people are complaining but I much prefer a pokemon go season gimmick to the contest type gimmicks before. Catching actual pokemon > beauty contests.

"Sir, Pokemon Go is pretty popular, let's integrate that into the anime somehow"
"Ok.. we'll name a character Gou"
"Brilliant!"

Too be fair PokeSupe just names characters "Platinum" and "Sapphire" rather than using their canon normal names, so I guess it's not the worst I've seen in the franchise. Gou is a real name, but still funny. Laughing Art style is a nice step up from Sun and Moon at least.

A lot of directors, key animators, and writers left after XY who had been with the franchise since the first episode of the first series, and a number of new people were brought in for S&M which was one reason I think S&M had such a huge shift in tone and focus and wasn't very well received. Losing Shinji Miyazaki is another huge blow. I think it's safe to say the series is past its prime at this point.

Sarah Natochenny (the voice of Ash Ketchum since 2006) moved to LA either this year or last year, so I think there's a pretty good possibility JYB could do a voiceover role in the new anime.

@DavetheUsher

It's also because a lot of OLM Inc. staff members are getting older and they had to be replaced by a newer generation of staff to handle the animation itself. I too feel sorry about Shinji Miyazaki not involved with the project after SM too, but he is too getting older and he decided to move on as well.

We are also gonna lose Kunihiko Yuyama, the director of the anime its films too, since he is also aging as well and he needs a replacement. Tetsuo Yajima is a perfect choice for him to take over his direction involvement.

And the only time will tell about Shoko Nakagawa, a Pokemon fan and the host Pokemon variety shows, would also leave the series and being replaced by another Pokemon fan who will handle the show hosting and starring in a number of Pokemon. For example, Becky was the host of the Pokemon shows from 1999 to 2006 and starred in her number of Pokemon films, then she was replaced by Shokotan. And i also wonder who will succeed Shoko Nakagawa once she leaves the show?

The Pokemon Company International is not planning to move its voice recording studio to LA, it will still be under the New York recording studio, so they rather stick to that.

Yu-Gi-Oh! is also being dubbed by New York studio, once again being healivy edited by the former 4Kids Production company that 4Kids sold its studio to Konami and rebranded itself into 4K Media.

So, new English voice for Ash soon? If so, damn I'm gonna miss Sarah, honestly.

She still voices Ash, she didn't move to Los Angeles. Sarah still lives in New York up to this day.

What do you do when you want to replace your main protagonist, you pair him side by side with your future replacement and see who gets more popular overtime. Yeah Ash is slowly out the door.
