This comes as no surprise really. Bleach already was the new Naruto; and that aint even over yet.

And the anime does its other job: create new fans so they go out to get the manga version. I can't say I didn't see this coming.

I've been following Bleach since it was being released, nice to see others discovering it's awesome.

And is it just me or is most of the front page italicized?

That's a lot of books! There must have been a huge amount of books printed and sitting on book shelves across the nation for the title to sell enough in one week for it to hit the top 10 again. I wonder if that's good business or just dumb luck.

I concur with all the comments so far. Bleach anime has been fantastic and even the fillers have been done with taste (as oppose to Naruto). I see Bleach surpasing Naruto in a big way state side as the manga gets more exposure through the anime. The manga will be a common site on the BookScan, no doubt at all.

(still hope the current filler ends soon though and it gets back to the bridges).

There can only be one reason for this. Bet Viz is rolling on the floor happy.

Do these book scans include Canada?

I do know Viz Media shipped a displayer to Bookstores containing Vols. 1-8 a couple of weeks ago.

Hmm, I feel left out. I read the first volume, but I didn't find it to be all that interesting

Yea, the one problem with Bleach is that the beginning is rather weak. You really need to read the first two or three volumes to really get into the story and then from there it only gets better.

Pesonally I didn't get into the story either until the second volume and I've been hooked on the series ever since then.

It was just the opposite with me. The Hollows only came off as monster-of-the-week fanfare.

Although for me, my favorite part of Bleach is the retro style. Not sure if it comes across nearly as much in the anime though.

Wow, congratulations, Bleach! Looks like a number of naughty children, teens, and tweens are staying past their bedtime to watch [adult swim].

Now Viz has to worry about appealing to [adult swim]'s target 18-25 demographic or B- might just end up on Toonami afterall.

and five other Bleach volumes are in the BookScan top 50, of which manga held 42 spots.

Are they saying that out of the 50 book titles, some type of manga or another has claimed all but 8 slots!? That's amazing! I wonder what the other's are in the top 5 (wish they'd've mentioned it). It's great to see so many graphic novel companies recognizing manga for what it is: entertaining, enjoyable, and any-age-fun. NOT "comics just for little kids with no real depth." Mr. Green

Sad to say, but I wasn't one who followed Bleach from the very beginning. I heard about it some time last year and finally discovered just how much of an awesome story and cast it has. I really dislike the types of fans who start watching/reading something just because it's popular, so please don't judge me as such. I believe there's a world of difference between someone who likes a series which they find out is popular, and someone who likes/reads it because it's popular. Err... please forgive my ranting. Guess I just wanted to vent. Embarassed

Um no, if anything this insinuates anything about those watching Bleach then it shows that Viz is doing very well with that market. Of course this is just an assumption as there has been no information released of what the actual watching demographic is for Bleach on AS. So I doubt they'll change the timeslot, I mean they didn't for any other of their series, so why do that to Bleach, especially if it's getting good ratings in it's current timeslot?

I assume this is because of Bleach airing on CN? One thing irks me, though, if it's doing so good on the manga side then why is the anime still not in the top three most watched shows for Saturday?! Maybe it was for a couple of weeks, but I only caught the bump that aired yesterday on AS.
