Japan loves self insert characters like Kirito and Emiya. SAO and AOT rank too low but this kind of polls are never 100% objective.

No poll is ever objective. Polls are always a way to determine what is popular and what is making the more sucess, not a way to measure quality.

^I mean mainly that AoT and SAO are definitely more popular than shows like WATATEN.

So Nezuko's voice actress wins for best actress...despite that we barely heard of Nezuko's voice in KnY. Kinda suprise Promare wins over Weathering with You.

Do not underestimate the power of cute sound effects and mumbles. Sometimes those items make the character. Even if that is all they do.
See Kanna, Nico, Aya, Myuu.

I've always held the newtype awards in extremely low regard and Kirito repeatedly placing high for "best character" just proves how BS these awards are. That aside, congrats to Demon Slayer

By these results with Demon Slayer...I can forsee how it might turn out at the crunchyroll anime rewards next year for them.

They really liked this Demon Slayer show. I found it rather bland. Among recent shounen shows, I found Dr. Stone much more entertaining.

The world doesn't revolve around your taste, other ANN posters and discounting the views of the native audiences as inferior to your own is a form of cultural imperialism. Demon Slayer may not be my number one anime of the year but it's a respectable choice none the less as is Promare for best film. I'm just glad that Sarazanmai is in the top 5 series of 2019 for Newtype subscribers.

I agree that Dr. Stone is by far the more entertaining anime, but that doesn't mean that I didn't like Kimetsu no Yaiba, good animations too. So far it's 2nd place together with Isekai Quartet for me this year.

If Emiya is selfinsert then you have some serious problems. Do you want want to lose an arm?
Still, I'm glad that overhyped Broly movie didn't make it. The movie was composed of recycled two movies combined together. Nothing new.
