Has any timed exclusive put the fact that it's a timed exclusive on the cover, let alone when said exclusivity ends?
Devkits never look like the final system. |

I've never seen the point of timed exclusives, either have it as an exclusive or don't bother. People will buy one console over another for the exclusives, but timed exclusives just mean waiting awhile.

Timed exclusives are a retailer (or manufacturer) buying exclusive rights for a certain time to try and get a larger share of the total sales. E.g if a game launched on three platforms simultaneously (and assuming no major localisation differences) then you would expect each would gain a share of sales proportional to their market share. With a temporary platform exclusive however you force anyone with more than one console to buy that particular version and also encourage extra hardware sales for people who cant wait for the exclusivity to end. When it does end the publisher then has all the people who couldn't buy it on the exclusive platform to now sell to.
For the publisher its delaying some potential revenue in return for a big upfront payment. And at the end of the development cycle when they are likely to be most cash strapped having potentially gone overbudget. Its not that dissimilar a practise to an Writer receiving a publishing advance. |

This probably means an Xbox and/or a PC port. I'd love it on Switch, but Squex probably won't. No evidence to support this hypothesis; just a hunch.
I'm just hoping PS5 has backwards compatibility. It probably will, but at present I see no reason to get a PS4 with the new generation right around the corner. Hope it can play PS3 games too. |

Even after the PS5 is out, the PS4 will still have support for two more years, the PS3 and 360 had almost three years of support after the the PS4 and Xbox one launched. |
