I am also digging the style of this show; too bad that Netflix is going to sequester it.

I started reading the manga just to get a jump on the story and I'm loving it. It's definitely that old 90's style writing where all kinds of insane things happen. So you got super serious and violent with some silly lighthearted moments. And lots and lots of GRIT!!!

I always thought the characters faces had a masamune shirow look to them, even having those smudges just above the nose and those open gap eyes. All very early to mid 90s.

It’s a shame that the CG looks pretty bad and clashes with the 2d animation. Oh well, one less title I’ll watch that season.

That's what I've been saying for awhile now to a co-worker who just finished reading it. Even though the book was produced in the 2000's, people have to remember there are still many artist that rock this particular style. Its one that resonates through the later 80's up until 2000's. Such as Masumune Shirow (who I am a big fan of), Otomo, going up to other artist spawning the length of the 90's, like Kon and Urusawa. But Q. Hayashida's style reminds me more closer to Shirow's older work.
