It was drawn by the character designer for the Monogatari series, so he probably knows what he's doing.

Anyway, I won't say no to more Higurashi, but where's the Umineko love? One series gets 5 or 6 different anime projects, Umineko only gets an incomplete (and very shoddy) adaptation of the original VNs? Real shame.

Akio Watanabe is one of the most iconic character designers in the industry for otaku-targeted anime.
Whatever this new anime project turns out to be, it's in good hands.

It's not in good hands at anime studio Passione, they've already killed Highschool DAnime hyper.

You really don't have a clue do you?

Studio Passione were given dxd after TNK botched the s3 adaptation and the artistic style change is due they shifted to the same art style as that of the LN illustration, which means they follow the original source a lot more.

So Yeah i would say it is in very good hands.

Considering that it is horror, that is not really a negative.

Unless this is with a new story, what is there left to tell? Higurashi Kai wrapped things up with the main story and the couple OVA series that came out after that were just fluff and fan service for the franchise's fans. Much as I liked Higurashi in the 2000s, this seems more like a cash-grab of some sort.

Actually, I'm kinda fond of Passione. Then again, I also have a soft spot for the earlier anime designs so I'm not entirely sure how to feel.

Any guesses on whether the story will stay the same?

Higurashi in a monogatari-anime-esque style? Wow, that's gonna be a feast for the eyes.

Oh those backgrounds; I have always loved this setting, middle of nowhere rural countryside so isolated, you have no idea what time it is.

This new work has some mighty hurdles to overcome... and some production ideas that shouldn't be copied. I have to see a full PV before I can commit but put me in the "cautiously hopeful" category. It's a remake of an anime horror mystery, there's so many strikes against it that it's less an uphill battle, more a mountain climb and it's only been announced so far.

The problem could be animation studio or character designer? Oh no, I clearly remember the original series and just announcing someone should be a step up over that inconsistency. What worries me is director.

Forget Higurashi, what about a new Umineko anime? Yeah, the Higurashi anime did the VN dirty as an adaptation, but at least it was self-sufficient. Umineko took out all the important clues to the overarching mystery in exchange for what little spectacle Deen could cram into 26 episodes.

Otherwise, I hope the Gold Edition team's silence means they're hard at work.
