It's too bad this didn't screen sometime during the holidays instead as it easily holds the title as best anime Christmas movie. Still cool that it will be back in theaters though.

New English dub? I didn't even know it had one. Was it a real English dub or one of those south Asian dubs.

The latter: animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=5203023#5203023

And I'll just copy this from that thread

I've been waiting for this, since this is the one Satoshi Kon-directed feature I never saw - I was not thorough in the 2000's. Since the Perfect Blue re-release I've been hoping for a chance to see Tokyo Godfathers for the first time in a theater, and I'll take advantage of that... as long as they don't screen it while I'm in England in May.

I also had hoped for Christmas timing, but oh well.

I am SO GLAD I didn't buy the import version of this film after all!

The UK edition I've heard has timing issues with the subtitles.
I just hope the 4K restoration was worth it.

I haven't seen the Blu ray of Millennium Actress yet but it's on my to-do list.

I did see Perfect Blue in theaters and left scratching my head. That film was restored?!? Was it ALWAYS this light and unfocused?
I dunno..,. I just remember the video on the DVD was not the best quality. The first two Satoshi Kon films had mixed quality home video releases like Evangelion did until it was digitally restored for the Perfect Edition.
