No sex involved. Think JK(compensated dating). As for the manga, if anyone's hoping to discover a cute rom-com and no dumb pointless drama, please turn back now. After what I managed to read of it, I'd add the following clause; No enjoyment involved. |

Doubt any main character turns pro in this anime. I haven't read the manga, so I don't know about it.
In Japan, I think they like to pretend it all stays chaste. To me, as a Westerner, it's just bizarre. More of an 'Oh, Japan' thing.

It's been a fun manga to read I really like the art work, plus it's a weekly series so it's pretty popular.
Yes the title is a little hard to wrap your head around outside of Japan. The main female character is part of a rental girlfriend service that's one of those weird only in Japan kind of things. Where if you are feeling down and want to experience going on a date with a really pretty girl to pretend for a day you are living the life always dreamed of or need a date for a special event and want to pass her off as your girlfriend. Maybe lie to your friends or family that you are in a relationship with a hot girl to show off or get them off your back. That's where these girls come into play. Their are strict rules on no sex, or any kind of specific touching or anything sexual in nature. It's a fantasy and nothing more. Here in the states this would never fly because the customer would always expect something more since they are paying. Chizuru is not some easy girl in it for kicks or to buy fancy clothes etc, without spoiling it she does it to achieve her dream without having to go in the call girl/sex industry. |

Given that sexual activity is banned and the series sticks with that, it would by definition not be prostitution. Even if in the real world such escort services are really just that, prostitution but hiding under a thin veneer to claim otherwise. |
