Am I the only one who thinks Crunchyroll's spring anime lineup is worst? Blame Funimation and Aniplex.

Crunchyroll will get exclusives, Funimation will get exclusives, so will Netflix and Amazon. Crunchyroll can’t get everything.

I heard that CR will no longer stream Aniplex shows and The Promised Neverland season 2 may not stream on CR because Aniplex owns it, and it may be end up as "exclusive" on Funimation like Kaguya-sama season 2.

God I hope not. I went back recently and gave funimation another try but streaming anything through that clunky service never got any better.

Lol. WarnerMedia should just pull the plug off Crunchyroll like what they did with DramaFever. Just put this streaming site out of its misery.

I remember the days when people were worried about Crunchyroll being a monopoly.

CR being a "monopoly" is better than FUNimation being a monopoly, frankly.

good thing there isn't one. Shows are split pretty evenly this season. CR has 16 new exclusive simulcasts with 2 more to be revealed. Funi has 16 as well, and A3! resumes this season. Fruits Basket and SAO are being shared. Actual competition is not a death sentence

Only if you don't like quality dubs and home releases.

I'm actually worried about Hidive, they have slowly been getting less shows since Sentai's breakup with Amazon for Anime Strike a few years ago. The shows they chose to license in the past were generally pretty good but it feels like they just don't have enough money.

During the Anime Strike era HIDIVE streamed like 2 shows per season. After AS disappeared HIDIVE started streaming 4-6 shows. Their situation became worrisome this year because they are largely dependent on what Sentai licenses, and they are really struggling to get new shows.

I love Sentai and have a HIDIVE subscription, but sadly they are no match for the acquiring power of Crunchyroll and Funimation.

I’m not sure why Crunchyroll doesn’t use Sentai for their dubs and home video releases more. Instead they randomly went with Discotek of all things for Konosuba.

The market of Crunchyroll is a worldwide one.
Funimation only reaches UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand, the countries with English as first language. It has a lot of coverage but it means that all German, French and Spanish speaking people won't get to see the show. Not because they cannot speak English but because of Region Blocks.

So of course I never want Funi to get anything. That means that I'm left out or have to look for illegal streaming sites. HIDIVE and Amazon also work in my country.

Hulu is even worse. Only US and Japan.

Haha I tried but no. It was weird, since they say 'Benelux' is their territory. Yes you read that right. BeNElux. But no, Netherlands is not French, so not included. I think they don't include English audio or Dutch subs so even if I could watch it, I wouldn't understand most of it. The French is too fast and my Japanese not good enough.
Would be good exercise.
