This translates to...

A huge profit?

Breaking even?

A disappointing loss?

If numbers are announced, it always means it’s a positive message. A company wouldn’t proudly announce disappointing sales figures.

It always depends on the game itself and the budget it cost to make. XV shipped 5 million by comparison in this same amount of time.

3.5 million x 60 =

two hundred ten million

Does not sound horrible to me... And that is only the first 3 days...

Wonder if FF7 Remake's part 2 thru part 7 (or 20) will sell as well.

That's the big question, game sell well or not in the initial release depending on previous game in the series. So FF7 remake is mostly selling based on people liking the original (and partly FF15) but FF7-2 will sell depending on how well people like FF7-1. See FF13-2 selling less than half what 13 did and 13-3 selling even less (I think around 1 mil).

That's the most for PlayStation exclusive.

Spider-Man sold 3.3 million copies in 3 days and God of War sold 3.1 million in 3 days.

Let’s be real. This remake will probably culminate into a trilogy. That’s the best and most efficient way of bundling this entire saga without getting too mundane.

I’m really glad this game is selling because it’s an absolute blast and they did the original justice.

I highly doubt there will be 7 to 20 different parts to this game. I'd hazard 3 or 4, especially since the original developers have apparently expressed sadness at the idea of having to pass this on to a younger generation to remake.

Combined development and marketing budget was $80 million, which means $210m in 3 days or so is a massive success.

Budget for FFVII original was ~$210M in today's value when adjusted to inflation. Still, this is only the first part so the entire remake will probably cost a lot more, even if they might gain synergy savings with the later installments...

Provided of course it doesn't run out of steam in the middle. Parts-installment games have a poor history, Xenosaga being a shining example(it was originally planned for 6 episodes...).

2-3 hours of content in the Original has been turned into 30 or so hours for the Remake's part 1- Putting aside the Kingdom Heart Effect shenanigans, there is quite a bit of content still left on disk one alone to fill out a part 2 & possibly part 3,plus a DLC or two.

Let's be real. This is Square we're talking about. Knowing Nomura, he'd extend this over the next 15 years if he could.

Having said that, this game is essentially a love letter to fans of the original. I love how detailed it is with so many references to the original. You could tell they put a lot of care into recreating this game.
