his family was also killed by demons, and he goes on an adventure to vanquish them.

Ok, to be fair that's a generic enough premise that if that's all it was, I would give this a pass.

BUT
the art is so obviously traced.
Even looking at the screenshot of ingame (fourth image), the yellow girl looks like a DS character.

Serves them right though I feel bad for any staff who worked hard on it not knowing it was a rip off (if any staff weren't aware..)

Well — that's SK for you, at least it's easy to prove the copyright infringement and plagiarism even without going to the court.
Now, look at PRC, where no one gives a single shit about even outright stealing assets from other games...

The art is the only thing plagiarized and it's so obvious. How did they get away with that for any length of time?

No one? I’ve seen countless internet flame wars from mainland netizens regarding outright plagiarisms of games and many of them were taken down just as this one.

Can we refrain from mean-spirited generalizations and acting it’s righteous and justified?

I thought only the main boy in that picture seems similar (don't know why they kept the scar).

Red haired pretty boy looks unique.

I wouldn't exactly say KnY was actually original

Ponytail is Tanjiro, Demon is probably meant to be Muzan, yellow girl is most likely Shinobu, and then the long red haired guy is the flame pillar Kyojuro, man with the wolf mask in the 3rd photo is Inosuke, girl in the 3rd photo with the pink and blue hair is Mitsuri, and then there's one other character in the 3rd photo standing at the very back that's either meant to be Giyu or Obanai. Those are all I could make out though.

It's a well known fact that copyright doesn't mean anything in China. A friend of mine has patented product in various countries, but his lawyer told him not to bother patenting it in China, since it wouldn't do much.

China is a member of the United Nations Security Council with veto powers, and as such, they're basically inmune to criminal persecution, compared with South Korea.

reading this article,I was like "okay, that's a pretty generic premise, maybe it's not--" and then I saw the art and I did a spittake. Geez, how blatant can you get? It's not like KnY is a tiny unknown property, either. Did they really think no one was going to notice?

Accusations of plagiarism? I seen that a lot, and I sure never say that chinese fanbase say nothing about that. People ain't fools, and chinese fanbase is big, but they barely can't do anything. And most of this games not outright taken down, but just ending the service to just make the road to the new one - it's quick cash scheme.

Taking outright legal actions against the developers and publishers that doing that? Yes, no one give a care, and even trying to protect your own rights (especially for the company that exist outside the PRC) despite the absolute clear copyright infringiment is still near to zero.

That is not generalization, that is simple stated fact of problem that exist.

I saw Korean dev blatantly copy another Korean mobile( like the only difference between the characters are the faces while pose, clothes and color scheme remain the same). I also recall a guy who made Manwha webcomic copy Bleach. These blatant plagiarism definitely not limited to just stuffs outside of S.Korea

But the bolded part is what exactly happened in this case though? Nobody's going to take this ear-slaying demon to court, not Shueisha nor the Sword Master story dev (who is also from south Korea). The game staff don't even acknowledge that they're plagiarizing other works.
