yeah the arson canned the next season of Euph along with Dragon's Maid. And given how KyoAni has understandably slowed down even in distribution, it's nice to see this movie among other things more conveniently accessible

They never officially canceled "Kumiko's third year" so you probably shouldn't spread rumors like that. Maid Dragon S2 was never confirmed to be from Kyoani to begin with. But it's also never officially been canceled.

If anything, I think Kumiko's Third Year is still being planned. The JP BD of this movie included the original announcement video, and while it could mean nothing it would be an odd choice to include that (it's just a short clip that's easy to find on YT) if it was canceled. Obviously it's unlikely to happen any time soon but I think it's still something Kyoani probably wants to do.

I already imported the JP CE/LE back in Feb. While their quality is good, I did not like the yellow subs Shout Factory used on A SIlent Voice, but more importantly the LE was missing most of the good stuff the JP version had. It was quite a let-down. I'm glad I spent an extra few dollars importing this movie because the LE/CE from Japan was loaded with goodies.

I also tried sharing this release date back in March when it was announced. It's in my sent box. /shrug

I also find DVD/BD combo packs to be a weird waste of resources. Anyone that has a BD is unlikely to need a DVD. And anyone that wants a DVD probably doesn't have a BD player. I wish companies would stop the waste. Theoretically could lower prices a dollar or two by getting rid of the DVD versions. Anyone that doesn't have a BD player by now likely isn't buying home video to begin with. Home video is largely about the QUALITY now days, and DVD ain't quality.

Lastly I'm still weirded out by the English title, which I know was something Kyoani chose. Still weird to me how they went from "Oath's Finale" to "Our Promise - A brand New Day"

Interesting that this article is coming out mere days before release when it's been available to pre-order since March IIRC. I pre-ordered my copy from RightStuf back on April 10th.

Care to give proof? They have not publicly cancelled anything, we've only seen delays for say Free!. Do you really think that the trash that caused the arson ended the studio? Are you really that ignorant? They will come back from that tradgedy.

Kobayashi's Dragon maid along with Enphonium have never been annouced as offically cancelled as the the other guy said kobayashi was never even confirmed it was kyonani, altough given the lack of updates on it as well since last year i think it might be.

Regardless this has set production for almost every other anime production they were doing way back if not from the scratch, meaning it could take another 3 to 4 years to produce them. So until something OFFICALLY stated, dont say it is cancelled or not.

I just hope they manage to regoup and be able to produce again but given with how many talanted people were lost, none of the titles will ever be truly the same ever.

dont let that lack of optimism be a thing. It's letting terrorism win.

I assume the TV series is still trapped under the thumb of Pony Canyon USA?

I don't think it is interesting; it is a bad job reporting news. Fortunately, I was also aware of this release and pre-ordered my copy weeks ago.

Also, on KyoAni being done, we don't know that. I have faith that they will comeback. We need to be patient.

Maybe for some people home video is about convenience and accessibility.

I finally got a BD player (mostly because Japan and the US share regions on BD) but still prefer DVDs for the convenience of being playable in my laptop. It's a tiny screen either way (I've never had a TV), so the "quality" issue has never struck me as significant,

I'm more upset that the anime series ended it het. The original source wasn't yuri to begin with. Kyoani should have never baited yuri fans like they're fishes. If the source was het, then keep it that way. Don't make it yuri

Since this movie and Liz movie got an English dub I wonder what the chances Aniplex USA would dub the TV series.

Appearently, yes, as its still mentioned on their official site.

Probably never, as the rights to the TV series are with PonyCan USA (and have since released both the first and second season on home video, sub only), and PonyCan hasn't mentioned anything anime on their socials since 2019. (Their FB page is mostly about their singers these days, and their last tweet on twitter was in 11/16/19.) So who knows what's going on with PonyCan USA these days if they're still around.

Ponycan USA and Sentai apparently had some kind of distribution deal (based on several Sentai licenses for 2018 shows produced by Pony Canyon). If that deal still stands I could see Sentai licensing and dubbing the first 2 seasons (and a potential third one). Hopefully they would outsource the dub to match the cast for this movie.
