Honestly thought Manga UK were going to license Demon Slayer!

Here’s hoping AL pick up The Promised Neverland

Planetes is getting a BD after all this time, brings me so much joy, it is a real underrated sci fi series that for a long time has been out of reach, now its finally back and with a upscale too is a major plus.

Haha i knew the Evangelion series would get a bd release as soon as the last film airs and pretty much as everyone predict it finally came.

I’ll likely be importing Demon Slayer from the UK, just like I’ve done with almost all of Aniplex’s titles. Seriously, even including the cost of a region-free DVD/Blu Ray player, I’ve saved well over $1000 by getting the UK releases instead of Aniplex’s expensive sets.

There better be a US release of Eva and Planetes at some point. The UK is so lucky.

You must have missed Funimation’s announcement that they will be releasing a standard edition in the US. And the fact that AL only said about a collector’s edition in the UK, makes me believe Funi’s release will be much cheaper than an import.

And man I am totally gonna import Evangelion and Planetes. I doubt Netflix will let Eva be released in the US any time soon, so might as well since I have an all-region player. Crossing my fingers it will include both dubs (regardless of opinion, there are upsides and downsides of both dubs, and any and all dubs are worth preserving), but I honestly doubt the ADV dub is still up for negotiation.

Good, because B: The Beginning is a seriously underrated show. Certainly one of the best animes Netflix has produced.

And Planetes could definitely use a re-release in the US.

I think you mean an upscaled version of those 2 series seeing as they were both releasd on DVD here back in the day.

Looks like I might need to buy a region-free BD player and import Evangelion and Planetes. But I hope that before the end of the year some U.S. distributor licenses Eva for a BD release.

It will also release the Neon Genesis Evangelion television series and the first two Evangelion films (Death (True)² and The End of Evangelion) on Blu-ray Disc in the United Kingdom next year

I wonder if this means whatever hold up there was to the remaster getting physically released in the West is gone now.

Really cool to see Planetes getting on BD, and depending on what's included with the Eva set I could definitely go for that too. We'll see how the pricing on FUNi's verison of Demon Slayer is. Anime Limited has already saved me a few car payments' worth by pulling an end-around on Aniplex pricing, not to mention the titles they have that never even came out in the US on BD. God I wish Japan would stop with the reverse-importation boogeyman.

Crapola, these are some exciting announcements. I was seriously starting to wonder when the heck they were going to release B: the Beginning, especially since it was initially due for release last year. And all the special features it's coming with?--this show definitely deserves it. The worst one can say about this series is that it is uneven, like it were two different shows at once--but B: the Beginning actually makes it work in a distinguishing way, and the characters totally save the rest of it from whatever little flaws it has. And now the next thing I'm getting impatient for is anticipating that 2nd season that got greenlit some time back.

I had long predicted that the UK would put out Evangelion on blu-ray before the US would be able to--so glad to have a region-free player, and so very, very glad that this release includes the End of Eva movie. It's not my opinion but an objective fact that the Evangelion series is incomplete without its final-chapter masterpiece of a movie. Now I'm just simply curious if it'll include both English versions--which would probably be the best option over choosing one over the other.

but Violet Evergarden isn't a Netflix production... It wasn't exclusively on Netflix and it was produced by KyoAni, Lantis, Pony Canyon, per the credits (Netflix is not listed). It's probably just licensing contracts as usual. If Pony Canyon is still in the North Amercan game, I'd expect them to release it themselves after any timed N.A. contract ends with Netflix if it was negotiated (at it probably was here) or sublicense it to someone else,
