So we had the prequel manga, and the sequel anime... The way they did this was kind of weird, but I hope it pulled some people into the series.

The ps4 game pulled me into the series. In fact I would say avoid the anime unless you played the game it's a sequel to.Because while the anime will catch you up to current events, the appeal of this franchise for me comes from the time I spent with the cast. So watching the anime from the start feels like I'm watching episode 27 of a series that aired the season before. I think this manga serves as a direct adaptation of the game, so it could help onboard people who don't own a PS4.

I've read some of the online manga raws.

Yes, the manga's a direct adaptation of the game.
But, the manga's story is more streamlined and plot-focused.

In addition, spoiler[some game side characters like Itsuki, Hiromi, and Hakushu don't appear in the manga at all. Hakushu especially, since the anime has teased out more mysteries and lore on who she could really be.]
