This has to be 1 of Right Stuf's most expensive items ever.

So it'll cost the same as a deposit for a house or apartment? Even if you have the funds that's an incredibly hard purchase to justify. Maybe one of the smaller scale ones would be more affordable.

You seem to forget that most Americans are in debt. Someone (maybe 3 people) will just put it on credit like a fool. Maybe Elon Musk will buy one lol

While the figure is great that is very expensive. That is a price of an expensive car.

It's times like these that I resent not being a multi-millionaire.

My favorite thing about this is that Rightstuf actually put it in the banner ad on their homepage. Like they think some rando is gonna wander in and decide to drop 40 grand on a gigantic waifu figurine on a whim. Presumably the people buying these, whoever they are, have been following the news about them for months. I mean, figure collectors do that even with normal-sized ones that you can afford without being a hedge-fund manager.

Incidentally, my second-favorite thing is that it looks exactly like a normal figurine, except for being ludicrously huge. Other than, like, the square-cube law, I'm not sure what makes it worth the vastly larger investment. Maybe I'm better off not knowing.

This definitely tops the 1/2 Shinobu Oshino Owarimonogatari Figure they had for preorder that was nearly $2,500. Although there was the option to have that one at least broken into 4 payments.

I'm a longtime figure collector, but can't ever see myself getting a 1/1 scale. For starters, I couldn't justify the expense, and also, I don't have the space! I have enough trouble displaying 1/6 scale figures!

However, some other collectors are seriously loaded, and believe it or not, I can see these Rems selling out. It may take a little while, though.

I think that may be in part for getting the word out (1/1 scale anime figures are almost never sold by North American shops), and in part marketing for the whole site (it's pretty newsworthy, and if it draws in some curious fans, maybe they'll end up buying something else).

All three will sell out. It may take a bit for the word to get out there, hence the banner advertisements, but they will sell. Some rich people are anime fans also, and have the room to properly display them and keep their kids from breaking them.

That's a lot of cash, considering other life-sized figures have gone for around 15 million yen (roughly one-third of this one).

My favorite life-size figures remain the Oh My Goddess figures on display at Yellow Submarine in Akihabara. I know ANN has written about them, but this was way back in the day and I wasn't able to find the article.

I think they've since been moved to the Kaiyado figure museum, which I've still never visited.

I got an email from Right Stuf about it so I looked at it little bit ago. It was fun to daydream a little about it, but about the only scenario I could think of where I would buy it is either winning the lottery and suddenly being a multi-millionaire.

It's sort of a weird thing to see it sold at a retail website, especially since something like this strikes me more as a display piece for a store to try to draw in customers. And even then, I'd have a hard time plunking down that kind of money on the chance that other people might think it's interesting enough to go look at and maybe buy something.

And RightStuf’s PR plan appears to be working, since this made the news. I’m sure someone will buy this eventually, but it’s clear the primary reason for selling this is to draw eyeballs to the site.
