I've been enjoying Sakai's work for decades. I'll hold my breath on this, hoping it's worthy of his work. Since he's involved, I'm pretty optimistic.

Had all his comic book work, even Usagi's first appearance in Albedo #2, (never should have sold it a few years back
 ). I'll be looking out for it.

Maybe if this series is successful, it could open the doors for other famous furry comics, like the afomentioned Albedo, and also others like Katmandu or Extinctioners, to have their own animated adaptations. Through to be fair, an animated adaption of Albedo would be a difficult thing, since the story is pretty close to Evangelion in terms of mind-screwing themes, and that without going with the fact that the author, Steve Gallacci, has refused to allow any animated adaptations of his work, partly to avoid a TMNT situation on him. Katmandu would be easier to adapt, plot-wise. The only problems would be that the comic has uncanny amounts of lesbian sex, and the fact the main characters are alien anthropomorphic felines living in a culture similar to Native Americans, and considering the cultural situation in the States, adaptating a work featuring Native Americans, alien or otherwise, would be troublesome, and that without mention finding Native voice actors for at least the leads. Extinctioners would even easier to adapt, since it feature super-heroes, and it doesn't have the same problems with plot (Albedo) or controversial-for-Americans content (Katmandu), except the story has not finished yet. The headline made me excited, but then I saw that this was only a very loose adaptation.

I've seen media/characters I've loved be rebooted "IN SPAAAAACE!" multiple times in my life and it never works. I'll certainly check out this show and hope for the best, but it's sad that this huge new audience won't be getting the authentic Usagi Yojimbo experience. |

There is at least one volume of "Space Usagi", so it's not unprecedented. It may be Sakai's choice to keep the stories separate in the different media.

Hope this rendition is faithful to the original. I worry they will cut corners in content and quality.
