Hmm, there seem to be two minds on the official spelling of his name between the manga and the anime. I find it jarring to see it as Anoth instead of Anos, even though I think I actually would've preferred it had they stuck with Anoth (Anos is too close to anus for comfort Wink). Aside from that though, it sounds like it's been a fairly faithful adaptation. Too bad the English releases are so far behind the anime. I'm really loving the whole deal.

Rebecca did it take a while to get use to Anos's name being Anoth in the manga compared to the anime or was it a quick change and became second nature to just call him Anoth, because just from reading the review I felt Anoth does not roll off the tongue as well as Anos does?

It's not very far behind, checking Bookwalker, volume 3 of the manga is the latest release in Japan (not counting monthly magazine releases), and Square Enix plans to release volume 3 in English in January. The reason the anime has breezed past the manga is because it's based on a light novel with 7 volumes so far that has not been licensed for an English release.

I see. I was going by "these introductory volumes (analogous to episodes 1-3 of the anime)" which made it sound like a lag in the English releases, since I hadn't heard of them anime-original-ing the storyline.

Actually his name is literally Anus... I'm not even joking...

Look at this picture that is directly from the Manga, it have his name written in some Door to the Fan Union thingy, his name is written in "English" and it's literally Anus. lol

There's a bit of a learning curve, certainly, because I was so used to "Anos" (which gave me more of a Latin-for-years vibe than anything), but I do like the way the spelling looks better, or I did by the time I was finished with the first volume.

Wait, so this is not about a demon king going to school with/having romantic relationships with his decendants? Did the subtitle lie?

Do you mean the subtitle "History's strongest Demon King reincarnates and goes to school with his descendants" on the book cover? It didn't say anything about having romances. The artwork may or may not be a little misleading, but so far he's not had any genuine romances, though he does spoiler[have a fan club], and there's some light poking at the subject. So I guess it could go there eventually. Or not.

You should try out the anime or read the LN/manga, whichever is your preferred medium. It's a pretty good story and I'm enjoying it immensely.

If that's more what you're looking for, then I'd check out Hero Life of a Self-Proclaimed Mediocre Demon. I don't think it's as well-written as this series, but it's more like what you expected this series to be, minus the "with his descendants" part.

When I first heard about this series, I was curious about it but I didn’t expect it to be as good it has been. I’ve only seen the anime but I really enjoy Amos’ character and even though he’s kind of an edgelord, he uses his edgelordness to help others less fortunate and I like he’s written to have a clear sense of justice and not morally ambiguous for the sake of being edgy like they could have easily done. And even though Misha and Sasha both have feelings for Anos, they’re not shown as damsel in distress characters but they can handle themselves and I really like the backgrounds for their characters and how they come closer together. I also really like the action and how they’re seems to real strategy in the battles and not just mindless magic spells. I’m glad to see the manga is a good adaptation but I hope we can eventually get the light novels released as well as I really enjoy this series.
